Hair Help Needed

I'm saying this with love, and because I'd say it to a girlfriend, but I think you should consider getting your brows waxed and shaped, along with lightened. I think they would open up your face and look lovely. :flower3:

I totally agree about the hair color, too blond, I'd go for a more golden or ash color.

I actually had them waxed last night as well. This is how they've always been done, and I can never seem to find anybody to do them differently. I would like them thinner, although I don't want them to look overdone. I might try going to a different salon to get the hair toned down some more and maybe see if I can find somebody who will do my eyebrows better.

I do appreciate the advice. I never got the "girl gene" that allows girls to do hair, make up, and clothes. I never know what I'm doing in those areas and most of my friends are the same way, which is why I came here.

To be honest, I think that color is much too light for you. It does not look natural at all. You remind me of the actress that plays Zoey on Nurse Jackie. Her name is Merritt Wever. I think you should go with her coloring. Luckily, you have time to fix it.

Tell whoever does your eyebrows that you want to thin them out. A good professional will know what you mean.

Holy crap! Definitely go to a different salon! I am not a gentle person, so I know this is blunt, but with the best intentions. Your brows should not be that thick after a wax. Your brows are thick and you're right, overdoing them would be bad. But you are not even in the same neighborhood as "over doing", believe me. Here's what I'd expect them to look like after: http://www.beautyandtheburbs.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/eyebrow2close.jpg

I think your salon and stylist really failed you, both hair and brows, and I wouldn't trust them to make it right, not if they think that looks right. Go somewhere really good and pay whatever to have it done by someone with a top notch sense of style and skill set. It will be well worth it when you are happy with what you see in the mirror.

I would call the best salons in town and ask to see someone who specializes in color correction. You can't feel comfortable taking engagement photos when you know your hair is not right. I think you would look better if you went for a warmer, darker color. I would definitely not go back to the salon who did that work. You have to be very careful with blonde coloring. It looks very brassy in places. I hope my comments don't upset you. Color can be fixed if you go to the right people. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

I went to Beauty Brands tonight to pick up a conditioner and made an appointment for Monday to fix it. They seemed like they really knew what they were doing, so hopefully it will look better. They will also do my brows. Again, I do appreciate the advice and no offense is taken. That's why I asked!

I would be going to a new place for eyebrows. I agree with everyone else on lightening them. I think the hair color looks nice on you. It's the eyebrows throwing it off. And really get them plucked not waxed- you'll get a nicer line. Threading works great too.

I am a new convert to eyebrows at 44 so I wish someone would have told me to do it years ago. I was a "Brooke Shields" kind of eyebrows girl before.

LOL. I know what you mean. I started waxing them when I dance competitively. The first chick really screwed it up. She took off the top in a weird way and dripped wax over the left one so that there was a line through the eyebrow. Tried to tell me that I had no hair growing there and I should come back to her so she would know to leave hair to cover it. Unfortunately, most people seem to just follow the line that is already there.

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help. I went to a different salon today. I did mention the idea of lowlights, but in the end we just used a different toner and really toned it down. It's a lot darker blonde and also a much cooler tone so it looks a lot more natural. She also really thinned out my eyebrows (thank you for the suggestion, they do look a whole lot better.) I also went to Clinique and got some new make up as some people suggested.

Anyway, I think it does look a lot better, and I never would have done half of that without your advice- so thank you!

OK - I can't be the only on who wants to see the "after" photos!!!

Please?????

Ack! I read that last post by the OP and expected to see pictures on this page.

:confused3

Sorry, couldn't get a pic last night. I'll post the pics when we get the engagement pics taken (probably in a week or two).
