Okay I didn't notice any threads about hair.
It gets hot in Florida. I have long hair, long thick hair. Like all the way down to the middle of my back. I need some suggestions, if anyone has any, on how to completely pin up my entire head of hair. I don't really like ponytails because I have dry hair and it tends to turn into a monster mass of tangled webs. Any suggestions? BTW: I'm 28; gotta have young hip-looking hair.
Thanks :cheer2:

My hair is about the same length as yours. I usually twist mine up into a big clip-it's easy to take down quickly for rides where you need the headrest. However, mine isn't terribly thick, so it may be easier for me to get all mine in a clip! BTW, I'm 27, so I hope that is "hip" enough! :thumbsup2

Any chance you want to cut it and donate it for "Locks of Love"? My DD9 is currently about 1/2 inch away from cutting and donating her hair. Can't cut it until we get back from WDW in mid-June (so it's pulled off her neck).

:thumbsup2

i live in southern florida. most people here with long hair just do a ponytail or a cute little twist!

i second the donation to locks of love! shorter hair helps ya stay younger looking and so much eaier to deal with! hehe i just donated my 16 inch pomytail a few months ago!! :)

My DD has thick hair to her waist and this is what she does. She buys those giant clips and just twists it up and clips. Sometimes we just french braid it too. DD is 14 if that helps!!

My hair is also very thick and hangs to my bottom. May be why I have headaches a lot huh? Anyway What I do with mine is braid it in a regular braid to one side of my head. It keeps it off my neck and doesn't tangle while swimming. It also doesn't twist up under my arms at waterparks. There is no way I could stand all this weight on top of my head.

well this is sort of a pony...pull it up into a pony and twist the elastic a couple of times, then when you pull your hair through again, only pull it through half way...that way it's a much shorter pony. yourhair is secured and not blowing around getting tangled and the half bun-ish wispy pony thing is SO IN this season! Seriously, look through Vogue!!! :thumbsup2

Ya i totally do this too. I have hair down past my butt (religious reasons) and i do the looped pony, but I also do it with a braid (so no tangle issues) and that way it stays off of my neck too. There are also those BIG hairpins that help wonders. You can braid and then twist and pin, or just take your hair at the nap of ur neck, twist really tightly and make some funky shapes that are pretty flat (pin them of course). That's about all i can think of. :cheer2:

I don't know how y'all stand to have your hair so long!!! I am growing my hair out for my wedding and every day I daydream about hacking it all off and it's only past my shoulders!!! :rotfl: My hair was long for years and then an EVIL hairdresser cut my hair from almost to my rear end to above my shoulders "Oh...well I was just trimming the dead ends..." Oh if I had had a gun...I was devastated, wouldn't go to school for a week...but what could I do...as a result I got used to the shorter hair and now if it's too long I can't deal with it AND I work with autistic children and one in particular is obsessed with my hair as it is! Now that it's longer he knows that those pony tails are only half pulled through and he spends the whole session saying "Is that your hair? Can I see it? Is it long? Can I see it? Does it swing when you walk? Can i see it?" :lmao: I love this kiddo, but he's driving me batty with the hair! That being said I am the pony tail queen and a lot of my kids wouldn't recognize me with my hair down!

am I rambling this morning? :rotfl: sorry y'all!

happy hair doing! princess: :wizard:

My hair is long (2 inches more and it can still be long-to my liking and I can donate some too!) it is also thick and has lots of "body". I make sure hair is wet in am and i do 2 low braids or a loose twisty bun thingy...very "messy" but stylish. I also use clips to keep some of my curls from giving me what I call "devil horns"!

French twist in a clip. Easy to put up, easy to take down.

I too have hair 3/4 down my back, in the summer I put it in a high pony;wit sometimes braid it or put it in a pony and twist it and use a big barrette too clip it (but that doesn't hold it. My daughters hair is to her rear end (she is 7) I always put it in a ponyor braid it. Sometime I try to put it in a bun but getting her to sit stilll or getting it to stay doesn't always happen. Good luck and keep cool. We're going their in July.

I have always had long hair and my daughter has it down past her bottom also (she is 8). I have done the "topsy tail" thing. I got it at walmart. It is a kit (you could probably do it with out the kit). It shows different ways to fix your hair. You can do a pony up high or down low and put it with a hair band to hold it and then you take then thing that looks like a pick on one end and it has a loop on the other. You put the pointed in down in the hair between the head and hair and then put the tail through the loop end and then pull the tail through the pony where you had the pointed part. A hint is to try and keep your pony a little loose so it pulls through easier. You can braid the pony and then do it and it will keep it from knotting up.

I sure hope that I have not confused you on this. Just another thought. :)

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

When my hair was very long (I cut it all off) I usually french braided it when I went to the parks. With all the rides andeverything that was the best was to keep it from getting tangled or dirty sometimes I just put it up in a big clip but that did not stay as well. :hippie:

Sharon Esch~ Locks of love is a great idea I wanted to do that when I cut my hair but I could not because I die my hair. :bride:

I too have done the topsy turvy thing, but not with a kit. It is easy to do. Like you said, make a pony, grad the pony part and put it threw, the pony just above the band.

I usually frenchbraid mine, since it is really curly and it gets so frizzy in the Florida humidity!!

Wow. :hyper:
that was more posts than I expected.
Yeah, I dye my hair as well, since I was 13. I actually can't frenchbraid it because I don't know how and all the times I've tried I've gotten my fingers stuck. So many ideas. Well, Frizzease Hairspray is my fave for battling humidity so I'm going to use that and one of my ideas was too pincurl the whole thing. Tomorrow I will be getting a layered hair cut with a loss of like 1inch off the ends. But that should help make putting it up easier.
Now does anyone have any suggestions on makeup? I'm kind of splotchy and want to look "even" throughout the day.

I just recently heard about tinted moisturizer. That might help with the "splotchy" look, without having to do too much with the makeup.

If it is hot when you are going, I would probably NOT worry about the makeup.

What about Hair Sticks? You can put two in your hair, and if you put it up when your hair is slightly damp, it'll stay all day. Hair sticks are a fun thing to do, and it makes a bun look pretty chic. Plus, it's a lot easier to learn if you've never done it before, than french braiding. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can!!

Well, today I went and got my hair cut. It's a layered cut like I ususally get when it grows out to one length. I have a round face so the first layer started right below the cheekbone. Turned out great. There is so much I can do with it now. Finally, structure! Not just one big mop head. :cheer2:

I'm extremely pale and started using Banana Boat Ultra Mist Instant Bronzer with Self-tanner and I love it. You can spray it at any angle and it dries in like 5 seconds and it doesn't leave an orange tint. So at least when I go I won't look like a ghost. :teeth:
