I'm so sorry this happened to your daughter. I hope it grows back quickly.
I took my daughter to BBB on our last trip (April 2010). Our appt. was right before our dinner at CRT. Before our entrees had even arrived, my daughter was in tears and had me take her to the ladies room to take her hairstyle out. She looked.....interesting....for the rest of the evening in the park.
There was so much glitter, gel and hair spray in her hair that there was just no chance of it looking anything close to normal. I think we did a loose ponytail on the top of her head.

I'm not saying it could never happen, but I've been teaching about 10 years now, let me tell you that some of those styles are so tight the skin of the scalp is pulled away from the head, and I have actually seen some skin tearing but no hair loss due to tight pulling.
I'll be passing on the hair damage info at BBB, because I'm sure no one is even aware of this. I've only heard of it on the boards, so I'm sure no one else had heard of it there unless someone has actually complained.
