not sure I know what hair wrap is? also how much is this on board? can I put it on my room key?

My DD had her hair braided on the Fantasy last year. I don't remember the cost, but it wasn't done well & we had to go back & get it redone (free of charge). She had her hair done in The Turks & Caicos & it lasted 3 weeks!

A hair wrap is when they take a small section of hair and wrap it in colorful string. It was $2 per inch.

For the hair braids, you can get half-head (forehead to the back of the top of the head) for $2/braid. My dd needed 10 braids and they did a great job. I'm not sure how much the full head of braids are, I'm sorry.

My DD had her hair done, half crown. It was $22 I believe.

We were on the dream three weeks ago and my daughter had her hair braided, 6 braids, $2/braid. We were soooo disappointed with everything, the lady was really rough, rude and the braids fell out in 3 days (she said they would last 2 weeks). She was the only unfriendly staff member we encountered on the entire cruise ship. I actually put a note on the comment card about her at the end of the cruise. A few days after the cruise we ran into a fellow that we met in mixology and he had said his daughters braids only lasted 2 days as well.

Wouldn't this be better on the islands? Got my crown done last on my honeymoon not at the resort, and YES it is Painful! But I was super convenient. Pat in my shampoo, rinse n done. If I hadn't taken it out a week later, it prob would have stayed until it broke off a few weeks later.

Point being the island ladies know their stuff?

You are right, it is probably better done on the islands. The op asked about braiding on the ship so I just gave my two cents. The lady that did the braiding was from Jamaica. I warned my daughter it would be painful, but she is tough. It doesn't excuse not interacting with my daughter or being rude. I feel bad because my daughter used her own hard her money to have it done. I told my daughter maybe the lady was having a bad day, but we saw her the next day on the ship, rude as ever. I we ever do it again, on an island would be our choice.

Wait, so if you leave the braids in your hair breaks off?? Why would anyone purposely do that?

We had it done on ship (crown). Stayed in for a month. They still looed good but I was afraid hair would adage if I ,eft them in longer. No damage at all

Depends on your hair. But yes I could start to see 'flyaways' that had broken off from the scalp so I took it out a week later. I have exceptionally fine, straight hair. She did her job. I had tears streaming down my face, it was so tight! My honey thought it was funny. She did a really cool zigzag side part too I didn't ask for but totally dug. For having fine blonde hair, when I took it out, I actually had a bonified FRO!

Word.

:woohoo:

We had the best luck with the ladies on Castaway Cay. My DGD had her hair done there on the first day of a double dip one year. The next year we had it done on the ship. It looked awful and was coming out in about 2 days (and it hurt more than the year before). So she took it out and had it redone when we got to CC. Stayed in about 4-6 weeks.

Also, people talk about the cleanliness issue on the other islands.... Not the same regulations as the U.S.

We have done the braids twice. Once on the Wonder and then two weeks ago on the Fantasy. Both times the braids last just over two weeks. The rubber bands started breaking, but they used so many there really was no danger of the braid coming out.

The first time, DD was a little teary eyed, I think I may have given here some Tylenol after. The lady was really nice and patient with her. The one tip we didn't get that trip, SUNSCREEN! Her scalp was peeling when we took the braids out. Ugh, nasty.

On the Fantasy my DD and DN were expecting some discomfort but were pleasantly surprised that it didn't bother them. My DD has super long, fine hair and there was hardly any breakage either.

Anyways, that was our experience. We will do it again next cruise :)
