I agree.
My opinion may not be popular here, but even reading the original post I did not see where the guy was sooo evil. I also agree that he may have just been excited about DVC, just as many of us are.

Well said. Hate to see stereotyping and so many jumping on an "imaginary" bandwagon.

It's probably my bias, but it also seems untimely given the grave situation so many fellow DIS posters, CMs, and Floridians face right now.

God bless.

That sounds like something a Republican would say.
....sigh....,:sad2:

I can respect the people who want to give this guy the benefit of the doubt, but I also have to smile a little. In my experience, people with significant assets don't talk to strangers about them, let alone refer to them as "my asset."

I'm not sure which is worse, the bragger or those being excessively judgemental of others......

:( It's going to be a long time until the election if we allow our wonderful DISNEY board to be defiled by political talk.

A rule to keep politics out of signatures would go a long way toward reducing political talk.

Why do some people have to interject politics into everything, including DVC? I'm sure that there must be many discussions boards devoted to this so please keep it off of here -- all the political signatures are bad enough...

Because we're Americans...isn't it great to be free ::yes::

Ya. Especially when they are for the other guy.....

Perhaps we need to get back to making fun of an picking on the poor unsuspecting retail store visitor worried about the damage to the Vero property, but not choosing his words properly enough to meet some posters criteria for dvc retail store visitation discussion standards....

Where did we leave off? .... something like "some of those darn retail store visitors spending thier hard earned money to help pay my salary are just so awful...."

If you really want to see DVC elitism face to face hang out and observe fellow DVCers at the front desk of any DVC resort. Elitism runs wild there. On our last trip some unhappy DVCer was announcing he spent $20,000 on this investment and it was not getting off to a good start!!

It would be hard as a CM to not get an attitude after being faced with this response repeatedly......

We are certainly a very demanding group.

All, I can say is...if I ever refer to DVC as my "asset" or "property" in a public place...especially at a DVC resort when addressing a cast member....will you all PLEASE just bop ME over the head!!!!:p

Awww, heck....you can just bop me over the head now if you really want to!!!

So, no one else on these boards has ever been a bit overenthusiastic in describing the scope of their DVC membership to others?

Sure, and Tigger "accidentally" groped my wife last trip.

Off topic-Desparado do you live in Fantasyland with George W Bush? You forgot to mention the deficit that he has run up which was nonexistent when Clinton left office. Oh yes and how many fathers/mothers/husbands/wives/sisters/brothers/sons/daughters have died as a result of avenging daddy's mistakes?

Now, I have a story of retail arrogance in reverse. When we were first married, we had a very cheap set of flatware that actually my mom bought for us at a garage sale. A couple years later, we decided that we wanted to buy a proper set of flatware. At the time, my husband had just finished his graduate degree, and was working his first job as a research scientist at a pharmaceutical company. I was working as a chemist at a research institute. We went into the crystal and silver department and were looking at stainless patterns. The clerk finally acknowledged our presence. I showed her the pattern that we were interested in and she said in a very condescending tone of voice what the cost per place setting. At that point, I decided that I would buy my flatware at any store but that one. It all goes to show you that it can be very difficult to accurately judge a person's financial and social status by their external appearance.

I can think of a number of threads just like that here. Usually caused by not getting the exact requests put in for.

Freedom to be rude? There should be a rule that all "signature" lines must be about Disney or at least be friendly. Does anyone really think they are changing anyones mind when they post political rhetoric? Stinging sermons about national politics on our friendly DISNEY board take away from our reason from being here. If I wanted fighting and insults I would turn on the cable news. Doesn't everyone come here for fun?

Talk about not judging a book by its cover-

When we had two youngsters, one in my arms, we went car shopping after dinner one evening. It was summer, so we were dressed casually in shorts and t-shirts. I probably had the harried mother look from dealing with two kids. Anyway, at the car dealership no one would approach us as we looked at cars in the show room. We were very surprised because the last car we bought we had salespeople falling all over us. Aw, yes that was before kids! Well, one guy came over looking like he had lost the coin toss. He had barely said hello and left as soon as an older couple walked in. He was on them immediately.

Too bad he didn't stick around to find out that we were there to buy TWO cars. Yep, a family car and a company car which my DH's company pays for, but he gets to pick it out.

That was 8 cars ago and none of them were bought there. They have all been bought at the second dealership we visited that same evening.

To be honest, I'm always very quiet about my DVC ownership. Between the non-trivial cost and the lightening-rod effect of the word "timeshare", I usually play it very low-key.

I'm with Beca: talking about the extent of my DVC ownership - and any concerns about its condition - with a random store clerk would make me feel like a real "asset".

Once again, I gotta agree with Dr. T. on this one. On the other hand, I've never run into another DVC owner in my neck of the woods other than at our little DIS meet! :)
