I think what set the tone here was the post. The OP was unhappy with her situation and I can understand that. But I don't get calling and asking 4 different people the same question, getting the same answer, and then calling those people "nasty".

I think the Disboards are a get-out-what-you-put-in kind of place. Post something negative, and that is most likely what you will get back. Attacking others in your post is a great way to get negative replys.

That isn't calling anyone names. I am so sick of people who don't get the answers or responses they like saying people are rude and holi than thou. This is a internet board and you aren't always going to get the answers you like but that is called life. The responses are only offensive if you don't like the information contained in them and that is the crux of the issue.

Sorry...I disagree. I found a few of the responses very offensive and unnecessary and the question being asked by the OP had no relevance to anything going on in my life. I just happened to stumble upon the thread and as soon I saw the rude answers and assumptions being given I felt obligated to speak up. Too many people get attacked for asking completely innocent questions. Again, I feel the need to say..."If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all!" That's how I was raised and how I raise my children as well!!! If one can't answer a question without being snarky then maybe they shouldn't be answering the question at all. I think that would definitely help the "bandwagon effect"

It is sort of belaboring the point. 4 airline employees, including one supervisor, said the same thing, no fee waiver on nonrefundable tickets. So the OP makes a post asking people on the message board if there's a way to get a fee waiver - without mentioning why they felt they might be entitled to one beyond the rights of the average airline passenger who just wants to change a flight.

I agree, they should write a letter to the airline. A brief and concise letter in a professional type tone - if it's long and angry they are pretty much guaranteed not to read it. It is likely even that will not result in a full refund, as passengers are charged with knowing and understanding the terms of the ticket they buy at the time they buy it.

May I suggest that often it may be the readers and not the posters who are at issue and reading something which simply isn't there. There was absolutely nothing snarky about the thread I linked above, nor did I read anything snarky or name calling in the posts here on this thread.

I know for a fact that our esteemed moderator has no desire to raise another batch of children, and I for one am tired of trying to give out factual information to people who just don't want to hear it.

I suspect that yet another potentially informative thread will be closed shortly, and while I am not losing anything by that, sadly there will be readers who will not be able to get the information that they need here.

Bavaria is one of the good guys...or gals. She communicates factual information without any inflammatory extras. There is absolutely nothing wrong with giving direct, straight to the point information/responses, and that's what you get from Bavaria. Unfortunately, others seem to get off on threads like these and take the opportunity to belittle the OP.

And how do you know they didn't? Things like that are not posted for everyone to see. You are assuming the Moderators are not doing their job. Probably they are not doing it for you to see. They don't do public punishments here. Believe me, I know!

See here's what I don't get. Your posts have had nothing helpful to the OP at all. All they were for were to chastise other posters and to tell us how much better you are (you would NEVER say anything if it wasn't nice and neither would your children). What purpose do your posts serve? Unless you are a mod, it isn't your place to chastise posters. If you have an issue with someone's post, there is a little symbol on all the posts that you can use to to report it.

So, posters who are providing advice to the OP (though, not in a tone/manner in which you approve) are mean and evil yet your posts, which are all about instigating are a good thing??

And yet again, posters who actually have good advice are driven away from the board by those with no advice but who are good at telling others how they should post...
