Had Anyone Used Fitbit on Cruise

I'm wondering if I can use my fitbit on the cruise. If I keep my phone in airplane mode, it won't be able to sync, so I'm wondering how people use their toy on the cruise. Do you turn on the wifi once a day to quickly allow your device to sync? Would the 50mg plan cover this for a 4 day cruise? I have a Flex. Would it be different if I had the Charge? Any help from fitbit junkies would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)

I used mine on our cruise in October. I also have the Flex and didn't worry about it syncing as I was only concerned with reaching 10,000 steps. I reached it easily every day with no extra effort (took the stairs, never the elevator) except the sea day on which I did some laps on Deck 4 to reach it. Check out free wifi spots for each port you will be visiting and sync it there if that's the only reason you would need wifi. In my experience, the wifi on the ships pretty slow anyway.

Thanks. Is there hot spot on CC?

I write down my steps at the end of everyday then record them when I get home. I know they will store, I think its seven days without having to download but for me its just as easy to input it myself.
careful with it. on a cruise a few years ago I forgot I had it clipped to my bathing suit and plopped myself in the hot tub. that one died a tragic death. I try and be more careful now but it is so easy to forget.....:headache:

Oh, that's horrible. Did you have the Zip? That one is so small, it's easy to forget you're wearing it. I have the Flex and it doesn't tell me how many steps. Just has lights, so I don't know how much I've done 'til I look at my phone or computer. I'm thinking I should've purchased the Charge.

i use the fitbit one. its a clip on which I prefer however its my downfall as well. easy to forget when its just clipped to the top of your bathing suit or on the waist band of your shorts. on the other hand I wear a watch so its nice I don't have another band for my wrist.

I'm another Fitbit One... love the screen display. Used ATT to update my dashboard when I got close to Alaskan port.

The Fitbit app uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology to sync with Fitbit trackers. Data stored in your tracker is then loaded from the Fitbit app to your Fitbit.com dashboard via your device's internet connection. Your tracker initiates a sync when you open the Fitbit app on your iOS device.

You must have Bluetooth enabled on your device in order to sync your tracker with the Fitbit app. If your device is in airplane mode, it will not be able to sync with your tracker until airplane mode has been disabled, or until you manually turn Bluetooth on in the iOS Settings app

I used my fitbit one on the Fantasy in December. As the PP poster said, you can sync with the app if you enable bluetooth while in airplane mode. I also synchronised the app with the dashboard once a day. The free 50 MB package (you need to sign up on the first day) was enough for that and a few emails. I disabled all other automatic downloads (especially make sure to switch off photo stream!) and only got the emails from one account that I gave to my and my boyfriends family to use to stay in touch with us.

We had quite some waves when we cruised and I ended up with far too many floors climbed. I used the stairs a lot, but not that much. My explanation was that the rolling movement of the ship added stairs when I moved along the ship. It was quite crazy what kind of numbers I got there! The steps appeared to be pretty accurate.

I was afraid of accidentally killing my fitbit, so I never put it on my swim suit, but on the cover up that I was wearing above it, or on the waistband of my shorts.

My Fitbit One will store 7 days of detailed data and up to 30 days of summary data. I don't worry about synching while I am away for a short time. I'm a little more concerned about my WBTA this year and am considering buying a small internet package to sych our Firtbits and check a few emails.

I agree with PP about getting too many floors.....while I am a complete step geek, I seriously doubt I climbed 150 floors in one day!?!?!?!?
