Just wanted to say that we had our first Disneyland Paris trip a few weeks ago and wow...it blows WDW out of the water!
It's much smaller of course, but much more charming as well. Plus the setting (France) just fits so much better with the fairy-tails and fantasy than the hot Orlando heat does.
We've been to WDW quite a few times, but our time at Disneyland Paris was hands down the best Disney experience we've ever had. If anyone on here is on the fence about going, don't hesitate, you will have a wonderful time!
We only spent one day in the parks (our France trip was basically a road trip around France so Disney wasn't the intended destination but a mere pit stop) but it was one of those rare, perfect days. We were there on Saint Patricks Day and walked onto every ride. Crowds were low and the weather was a bit chilly, but that's my preference.
The park seems to be much better maintained than WDW. Plus it seems like they spent more and went all out at DLP. We were blow away by how much better the overall appeal of the park is. It's a Small World has always been my Hubbies least favorite ride and he actually enjoyed in at DLP...it's amazing how much nicer it is there!
Our 5 year old DS said it was "the best Disney place ever!"
My only complaint is that restrooms were not nearly as easy to come by as they are in WDW. But the restroom thing was pretty much an issue all throughout France...they are definitely easier to come by here in the states.
My one regret is that we completely forgot to do a walk through of the castle! We had planned on doing that last but by the end of the day we were exhausted and it slipped our minds. That was one of the things I had been looking forward to the most. But that's just a reason for us to go back some day.

and I agree, it's always good to forget to do something as then you have a very valid reason to return!
It made my day to hear that it is even better than WDW! We have only been to WDW twice. It is not our favorite park because it was just too big and spread out and had horribly hot weather.
We actually are in love with Disneyland in California.
A large part of the reason sounds similar to your description of DLP being smaller with more charm. We simply love the cozy, more intimate feel of DL compared to WDW so I'm hoping that DLP will be right up our alley!
