Except I had it removed 18 months ago! What the heck? :confused3

Well if it was really a gallbladder attack and not something else, there is a chance that a stone is stuck in one of the ducts that lead in and out of the gallbladder.

It's definitely the same pain I had when I still had my GB - which I haven't felt in 18 months. Can you still form stones if the entire GB is removed?

When you had the GB removed did they check to make sure there were no stone in the duct? If not that is probably the issue. There can be a stone in the duct causing issues.

I would hope so but :confused3 . I had so many stones. In fact, even though he saved me about 15, he said that was just a portion of them! So hopefully he would have done a thorough check of it all. I guess I'll wait and see if I have any more pain.

You can still have stones even without a gallbladder, it can just be in the bile duct, because they still leave the bile duct. So you can form a stone in there.

I know a guy who kept having attacks for several years after having his gb removed. They finally imaged the stone in the duct and took it out.

So what does this mean? Cut out fat? :scared1::lmao:

If I have to have one more surgery, my bank account will do this :sad1:

When I had mine out, one of the things my surgeon said was that a certain percentage of people continue to have gall bladder attacks - ugh!!!

I hope you fell better!!!!!

It's definitely not uncommon for the pain to come back/continue even after surgery.

DD9 had her gallbladder removed a year ago. She started having pain again in February. She has been in chronic pain. She had an endoscopy done in May and found she had bile in her stomach. This seems to be a not uncommon side effect of a gall bladder removed and can occur years after the gall bladder has been removed. We still haven't been able to resolve the pain and she has started seeing another specialist as the one here wasn't doing anything. She goes back in the morning for her third visit. Good luck.

I had mine out almost 12 years ago, and have had that pain a few times since then. Most recently this past winter. That one was the worst I've had since it was removed. It is not fun!

No advice, just:hug:. Hope it doesn't happen again!

From what I've read (I was having gallbladder pain last month/possible stones)you need to make sure you drink enough water daily, eat enough fruits/vegetables for fiber, and avoid fatty and high cholesterol foods. Without a gallbladder, you have a hard time absorbing fats. Bile is still produced by the liver, but it's released continuouly into the intestine. When eating a meal high in fat, there may not be enough bile in the intestine to allow for proper absorption.

Did your Dr put you on a bile acid supplement to take with meals? A Vitamin C supplement is good to take if you still have your gallbladder in order to prevent the stones from forming because it converts cholesterol into bile acid.
