know why people traveling with SW are so scared and nervouse, after watching their show yesterday and today I am a little freaked even though most of what they show is drunks, but there are a few that they have no seats for ackkkkk,I think this is why the whole A,B,C thing gets us so :confused3 confused but I have put trust in my Diser buddies :thumbsup2 that I am feeling a little less paranoid about my upcomming trip next Thursday :cheer2: with a family of 5 and another family of 4 we are traveling with.. :grouphug:

only problem is I am the one who is tricking the kids{look for A FUNNY thread on this board}now my son wants to know why all the planes on the show have windows and our's dosn't{you gotta read the other thread}hummmm :rotfl2: told him cause we are on the internet special price plane!!!!!and we are leaving from philly not LAX like in the show!!!!

OMG--do you still ahve that poor kid all wound up? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

How about if you tell him that with the type of tickets you've got there will probably be a couple of chickens in the overhead above him, and possibly a goat tied to his seat, so he needs to be careful the goat doesn't eat his "stuff."

Okay, calm down!
Remember, "Airline" shows the unusual, entertaining and/or sensational events. MOST travelers get to the airport, board the plane, reach their destination, pick up their luggage and head out for vacation, work or home. But how interesting would THAT be to watch? :teeth:
Just, um, don't try to bring cases of liquor with you, or fresh fish... stay IN the gate area while waiting for your plane to arrive,,, stay OUT of the bars... check in on time... :)

Sure wish I knew what those poor, grieving people drank at the funeral since the liquor never showed up!!
Flying SW is really easy...it amazes me how many people (enough to make a TV show anyway!) manage to mess it up. I mean, come on....did that lady really think she could just show up with her dog and get on the plane? Or those liquor delivery people, in that taped up cardboard box? Stay out of the bars, behave nicely and you'll get on the plane. I'm sure all the airlines could have a show with the varied people that fly!!!

My DH flew SW alot 2 yrs ago and by alot i mean once or twice a week.

He's never seen any of the drunks or been kicked off planes. Although he did volunteer for a bump once and got us another free ticket.

Their RR program is great and we've never had trouble redeeming our vouchers. (way better than US Air's miles that we've never been able to use :sad2: )

He changed jobs since then and only flys SWA with us now about twice a year to go to DW.

We've seen a couple of the show people at BWI over the years though....

Do you mean that SW planes do not have windows?

It's easier to keep the kids from fighting for window seats that way... no one gets them! :teeth:

OK really, yes, Southwest planes have windows and lavatories and lights and air conditioning (if you can call it that) just like planes from any other airline. However, I believe Ryanair (Europe) has all of their planes without window shades!

okay, got it now :thumbsup2

I have never flown SW, but considering since my Delta flight was canceled. I'm not quite sure how their boarding works, but understand there is no assigned seating. What are the chances of 2 adults and 4 kids (2-11) sitting together?

You will be able to preboard and if you sit 3 and 3 (with the aisle between you) you have a great chance of sitting together.

oh no sorry, yes they have windows but I played a trick on my kids, you have to go back and read the thread called A FUNNY,its a long story but made short,we are traveling with another family and their 15 year old said that SW was horriable since she has seen the show, they normally fly usa3000,but since we are going the rate we could not beat,so I was teasing her and told her since we only paid 54.00 each way that this is a cheap plane,no windows and then it got better,I told them no bathrooms.....gotta read the thread...

Families traveling with kids 4 and under can generally preboard. Now, if you have one 2 year old and the other kids are all older than 4, they may not let the entire 6 person family preboard. But, if you get online 24 hours before your flight and get A boarding passes, you will most likely be able to sit together (or at least near each) other by having 3 people in one row and 3 in another. You may have to go to the back of the plane to get 2 rows of seats together (either across the aisle from each other or one in front of the other). I think people really overstress about seating on Southwest, it hasn't been bad at all in my experiences.

ZERO. The seating configuration is 3 seats in a row.

My, aren't we feeling literal this morning!? :confused3
