Is anyone else having problems updating their cricuts? I've been trying to register my gypsy & update my "E" since Sunday. The updates won't go through and I haven't even been able to complete my gypsy registation

Suggestions anyone? I'm getting really, really frustrated!!! TIA

I think MM2000 was saying something on one of the threads she was having issues..
MM2000, sorry if it wasn't you...

My update took forever, but it went through just fine. I have not tried to use it, but was able to load the 2 carts that I could not load before the update. Good Luck! :goodvibes

I was finally able to update through the Gypsy Sync software, but not the Cricut Sync one. Which are you using, Cheryl?

I haven't tried to cut since I updated (this morning). Is there a firmware update to the Expression too?

I was trying the cricut sync. I can only get so far and the it stops. Perhaps I'll give it another try. I really want to get my gypsy registered so I can get the 5 free carts ;) There might need to be a firmware update--I tried to cut with the "E" and CDS yesterday and couldn't. Then my laptop wouldn't work right (the usb ports only work intermittently) so I'm trying to do the updates with our desktop  Technology has not been my friend this week!

Try the Gypsy Sync. That's what finally worked for mine. And, they've extended the 5 free carts through February, so don't worry about that :)

Ooh that's great news :) Now I only hope that the laptop is an easy/not expensive fix. All my photos & scrapping stuff is on it (at least the photos are backed up ;))

Jennifer, what is the difference. I know I used to use the Gypsy Sync but with the last update it was switched over to the Cricut Sync. I update my gypsy thru the puter then update my E with the Gypsy.

I know two people that got Gypsy's for Christmas, and both of them had trouble updating theirs. One of them (my daughter) finally got hers to work, but my friend is hasn't been able to. The bad part is that they both tried to call ProvoCraft customer service and never could get through.

I don't know what the difference is in the software or why one is working and not the other. I wish they could figure out their issues :(

I hadn't updated my Gypsy in awhile so after reading here about the problems I thought I'd give it a try. I updated it a little while ago with the Cricut Sync. It took a while, but it updated just fine. I plugged it into my Cricut and tried to update my E, but it says it is up-to-date, so no new firmware for the E.

I believe that the Cricut Sync is the program to be used for updates now. I know you have to use that one if you are going to get any of the digital cartridge downloads.

Okay, so I finally got the gypsy registered and updated :) I had to turn off the anti-virus software on the computer.

The "E" won't update--it's not "chirpinng" when I power it down and Rachel is trying to use it so I'll try later.

Now I'm going to start linking my cartridges :)

Cheryl, I'm glad you finally got it registered and updated. I didn't think about the anti-virus software might being the cause of the troubles. Mine just popped up telling me that a program was trying to access my computer and asking if I was okay with it to proceed.

I hope you can get your E firmware updated without any problems. I haven't had any problems anytimes I've updated it.

:yay:Yay!!! All my carts (except George) are loaded and the "E" is updating now!!! :yay: Thanks for your help everyone :)

ETA: So looking at the gypsy, it seems like all of the cricut carts are on there. Is that correct? If so how do I know which ones I have--is there a way to know which carts I loaded into the gypsy? Or is it like CDS and I can only cut if I have the cart itself loaded into the cricut? :confused3

Also what about digitally loaded content?

you don't need a specific cart in your bug to run gypsy, any cart will do.
The carts you own and have loaded are in black, the ones you don't are red. When you are looking for images on the carts you can select all carts or linked carts. I leave it on linked.
