Where do you shop for your childrens clothes? I shop both for DD but some people I find like more than the other. Any opions? :bride:

I work at the Childrens Place so I buy most of my boys clothes there. You get 30% off everything, even sale stuff. Before I work there I never really bought from Gymboree, prices I thought were a little high.

I shop from both, but mostly shop their sales. Which store I shop in really depends on if I'm liking their current styles/colors. Gymboree has a higher resale value if you are wanting to resell them after you child outgrows them.

Between the two I'd say Children's place more often. Gymboree's prices are a little too high for my budget.

I love the quality of Gymboree but the price tags are :scared1: so I tend to only shop their sales racks and buy limited items from them. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Childrens Place clothing as there are alot of option for both of my children - 1 girl/1 boy and they are affordable. At the young ages, the kids go through sizes so quickly that I cannot see spending $40 on a pair of pants they only wear a few time. I will spend more on a special occasion outfit or something that I see that I have to have (Patriots :thumbsup2 /Red Sox apparel) . I figure soon enough they will want name brand clothing, shoes, etc. and once they get a "say" in the clothing I purchase for them it will be costing me more  so, I will save a few pennies now while I can.

Gymboree's quality is great but I rarely buy from there unless I have a GC and there is a good sale.

I prefer the CP because it is cheaper, you can get more for your money & even though I have had somethings tear/seams come apart it is OK since they are cheap.

My kids get their clothes dirty. They wipe their mouths on their sleeves even though they had just been told not 3 min prior to use a napkin, they roll around outside in the grass, get marker from school all over them so it is wiser for me to spend money at the CP then Gymboree.

I mostly shop Children's Place unless I catch something on clearance at Gymboree, too expensive for me, too. I know the resale value is higher, but my kids are too hard on their clothes to resell many.

One thing I have found about Gymboree is they seem to be more stain resistant than anything else we have found. My kids are hard on clothes-spilling food, wiping mouths, you name it! They can spill the same thing on a Gymboree shirt and a Target shirt. The Target shirt is garbage no matter how much I treat it, but the Gymboree one comes clean in the wash with very little effort. That, to me, is worth a little higher price.

OTOH, if you shop the sale racks and take advantage of the Gymbucks promos throughout the year you won't really be paying that much more for it. I also love being able to shop just one line per season and know my kids will always match no matter what they pick out of the closet.

have to chime in on the resell of Gymboree.

If you wait for a sale and then again wait for an additional % off sale on top of the sale...you can really get some good deals. Yes, you might pay more per outfit, but you will get WAY more when you resell them. I pretty much pay for my children's new season wardrobe from selling the PAST season on ebay.

As my DD gets older, I am buying more stuff from TCP. The Gymbo clothes are too babyish now. OTOH the TCP clothes were too "grown up" for her when she was younger.

My "baby" is 16 now - but when my kids were younger, I bought many of their clothes from Lands' End.

You know, as my DD approaches 5 (yes, only 5 :rotfl: ) she doesn't like the style of Gymbo too much anymore. We get most of that stuff though from neighbors garage sales, so they are low price and gently worn. My DD got 2 brand new outfits complete with undies, socks, and hair pretties for Christmas from Gymbo. That's the only time she gets clothes that expensive.

I've always wanted to check out TCP to see their selection during their sales. I could change to that place for special gift clothing. I'll check them out online, but I've heard it's pretty bare bones on there?

I personally like Gymbo, but have to be careful of shrinkage and length. I like that Gymbo has the adjustable elastic waist band, since most other brands fall off her butt and she keeps hiking them up.

I buy all of my DD's jackets, boots, hats, mittens, and backpacks for school from Lands End. I don't mind spending more for these things, because they last and they will be worn on 2 kids for now.

I don't buy the regular kids clothing, because they are a little high for my liking. Their stuff is quality, so it's an excellent option.

For cheapo stuff that I don't care if my DD destroys while playing, I love the Children's Place. DH and I call their clothing "disposable clothes" because it is so cheap on clearance:banana: We have a few things from Gymboree (bought during a big clearance sale), but for the most part their stuff doesn't fit DD well. We buy most of DD's clothes from Hanna Andersson since it has such great resale value on Ebay.

Gymbo here all the way. Like another poster said, if you shop the sales and use Gymbucks, you can buy their clothing very affordably. For instance, before Christmas, they ran all sweaters at 14.99, then ran them at 20% off of that for a couple of days. Then I had a 20% off coupon they allowed me to apply to the purchase. I was able to earn Gymbucks on this transaction too. EAch sweater wound up being $9.56 or something close to that. I can't find a sweater ANYWHERE for that.

I also buy Gymbo on ebay to fill in dds' outfits. I haven't tried to sell yet, but I'm thinking about it.

well I disagree with you there - I can easily find sweaters for a child for under $9. I bought my youngest son's complete Fall Winter school wardrobe for under $80 total and that was an Obermeyer Winter Coat with snow pants, a Halloween Outfit, 6 top/pant Le Top outfits for him to wear to preschool, some random t-shirts and blue jeans to play around at home in.... pretty much everything except socks, shoes, and pjs.

As for me, don't have girls so I'm able to resist the Gymboree urge fairly well. That is a very good thing because I really don't need another compulsive habit.

I have bought Children's Place outfits for my little Guy for special occassions like Easter clothes and Family Portraits etc. I look through their clearance racks often to see what they have. I hardly ever buy anything at the mall anymore though, sale or not.

I'm starting to LOVE the childrens place OUTLET! I got 17 times there last time for below 55$!!! With those prices I dont care what they get on them. Infact I'm starting to plan my next big outlet shopping weekend.. thank god for who ever made PA such a wonderful outlet store state!! I live in with an hour of no less than 4 major outlet centers I get sticker shock walking to a reg. Gap store YIKES!

Gymboree! I don't bother with CP usually. I have never found their quality to be the greatest, plus they have no resale value on eBay. I resell all my girls Gymbo the next year and get most of my money back. I only buy from Gymboree when earning or redeeming Gymbucks and hit the $50 mark dead on each time! Plus I have a Gymbo Visa for that extra 5% off.

It's true that Lands' End kids' clothing isn't cheap - but you can get some good buys in their Overstocks section. We used to have a Lands' End outlet store in my hometown for a few years, and boy was THAT great!

I love Gymboree. I also only shop with gym bucks, and on sale. That said, most of my DD5's school clothes are from there. Children's place clothes are a bit "too old" for my DD. I often wish other places made clothes that let litte girls be little girls. Gymboree does, but at a price. To me, I guess, it is worth it to have her look like she is 5. I hunt forever trying to find clothes that are not teen-ish. I have, however, found some things I like at Children's place, and Target.
