Gwen Steffani Banana Song Lyrics

WOW, I really am a dork! I thought the song was about a cheer :rotfl2: go figure! My ds 4 and dd 7 love what they call the candy song. The one they like goes something like "put the sugar on my tongue, tongue, yippee, yippee, yum, yum :earseek: Luckily I think I can figure out what this means on my own :rotfl2:

"My Milkshake Brings all the boys to the bar"

Yeah I still dont' understand that one. :confused3

Catchy though.

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard
And they're like, it's better than yours
D**n right, it's better than yours
I could teach you, but I'd have to charge ...

In an interview at BET.com, Kelis says that a woman’s milkshake is not (as many people might think) a specific reference to her upper torso parts, but is “that thing that makes a woman stand out from everyone else. It's a thing that makes you sensual and warm and maternal.” Let's put it this way ... she "shakes up the boys" better than the other girls in an intimate context. PM me if you're still confused.

My 3 year old sings Hollaback Girl at the top of her lungs everytime it comes on the radio and when the mood strikes her. I had to try to explain what a hollaback girl was to my in-laws.

Hey I am only 23 and I had no idea what a holla back girl was either, I thought she was saying to the girls that she doesn't just talk s*** that she would knock them out instead. :confused3

So allow me to join the unhip club

 I had my 15 year old DS burn Hollaback Girl for me on a CD. I actually thought she was singing Shhh on the song until I heard the unedited version, though honestly it doesn't bother me one bit. I AM embarrassed that I had no idea what a hollaback girl was until this thread! I thought it was a girl that talked back!

What about Greased Lightning from Grease?

She's a really p**** wagon
The chicks will c**** for Greased lightning....
LOL!

Don't forget:

"You know that ain't no s**t,
We'll be getting lots of t*t..."

We went to see the Broadway version at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans last year, and they *did* tame the lyrics a bit.

Obscene or not, gotta love Grease!

I was never really into Gwen Stefani's music until my 15 y.o. son started taking an interest in her videos. I think he's in love with her!

He didn't believe me when I told him she was old enough to be his mother. She is 35 y.o. Wish I had her body....heck I wish I looked that good when I was 35!

I just have to tell you all that this thread has me cracking up. As a 29yr old mom of a 7 and 2yo I like to think I'm pretty hip. I too didn't know what a Hollaback girl was until DH had to explain it to me! He works in Manhattan with alot of 20 somethings(he's 33) and they keep him up to date on all the lingo! I'm up in the country and try to stay hip through DH!!!LOL
My DD use to love this song and is now sick of it. Although my 2yo DS loves it and he sings "bananas" over and over again!

Evertime that candy shop song came on I changed it right away. One listen to it I couldn't believe they were playing it on the radio. I mean there were no "bad words", but holy cow what they are talking about on daytime radio floored me!

I too remember the grease lightning song and push push in the bush!! I also sang those songs, my poor parents, they never said anything though. And I had no idea what they were talking about!

A little story....
When I was in the I think 7/8th grade in Catholic school our music teacher gave us an assignment to write the lyrics of our favorite song and share it with the class. Innocently I had wrote the lyrics to my favorite song by Salt-n-Peppa called "Push it"
The poor priest!!LOL :rotfl: He never said anything to me either, probably didn't want to make a big deal about it!

That's okay, a girl in our office was singing: "I ain't no harbor fat girl..." I finally realized WHAT song it was when she got to the bananas part

If you guys are bothered by what hollaback girl means, you are probably thinking the wrong thing. A 'Hollaback Girl' is one that verbally attacks you, not physically. I don't see how that is offensive. :confused3

So which is it?
A girl who verbally "hollers" back or a girls that runs to a guy when he wants a "favor"?

Both have been said on this thread.

And really, if it is about "hollering back" instead of physically fighting, then it'd be the opposite because she says she "ain't no hollaback girl". Therefore, she'd be one to physically attack, no?

I have no idea but I hear this song everyday--more than once. :)

Pete and I just substitute the word Sheep. :cool1:

"These sheep are bananas, B A N A N A S!" :rotfl2:

That's what she's saying, that she isn't the type to talk bad about you when she's mad, she'll kick your *** when she's mad. Make since? :rotfl:

I don't call it the banana song. I call it the most unfreaking believably annoying song in the history of all music! Man, do I hate Gwen Stefani and the bad news is that I think I'm the only one in the world that does. She gets on my last nerve and stomps on it! :scared: :crazy2:

Whew, I feel better now.

No, wait, her song just came on the radio. UGGGHHHHHHHHH!

Yes this is definitely at the top of my list of the most annoying songs ever. Right up there with Mambo #5, and RELAX! Just do it.....(that'll get stuck in your head forever), and Save a horse, ride a cowboy (When I lived in VA everytime I would go to the local country club every nasty girl would get on the floor and start grinding all over the place. what a great visual :earseek: )

I asked DS (15) if he knew what a holla back girl was. His definition: A girl with low self esteem that will go with a guy any time he calls her". So I guess that would be option B.

How could he download that song for me, listen to me sing away to it in the car, and not tell me what I was singing about! Boy do I ever feel like a dorky mom now!

That is so funny! :rotfl2: I love listening to other people sing songs and they completely screw up the lyrics. :rotfl: I ain't no harbor fat girl? That's hilarious...it doesn't even make sense! :teeth:

Feel free to join my club! Dorky Mom's of the World Unite!

Off topic, but I'm also the Mommy who bought her DD6 the package of about 100 cute little rubber bracelets in assorted colors to wear. She had at least 50 of them on when my niece explained to me what the different colors mean (and if you don't know...trust me, you really don't want to know)!

I found an urban dictionary and they actually have 3 definitions of Holla Back Girl:

holla back girl
A holla back girl is a member of a cheerleading squad who repeats – hollers back - words that the squad leader shouts out to them. For example at a Pep Rally, cheerleaders might shout out “S-P-I-R-I-T” and the squad leader asks “What does that spell?” and the holla back girls respond – hollering back “SPIRIT”. In the context of Gwen Stefani’s song “Hollaback Girl”, the term also refers to a girl who has heard about some guy talking bad about her and she isn’t just going to take it – she is going to be the leader, take charge and put an end to his verbal “cheerleading”.

holla back girl
Gwen Stefani's use:
A person who verbally postures (hollers back) in an argument and does not step up and fight. Gwen says she is not a holla back girl, implying that she will fight if challenged.I ain't no holla back girl.

holla back girl

A girl that will sleep with just about anyone and is willing to do so when a man calles her. Also willing to do this at anytime and anywhere.

I'm going with the cheerleader definition, because it just makes me feel better to think that! ;)
