Please tell me your good and bad experiences in Concierge! The only time I've been to the Poly was for our honeymoon in 1995 and we had a LV in Samoa.

Thinking of doing our 1st 4 days Poly GVC. (We are staying in a 1 bd suite at the GF for our last 3 days.) Is it worth the money, or would I be better off just booking 2 Poly LV standard rooms? I've looked on Tikiman's site and wasn't thrilled with the GVC views. Will we like it?

Thanks!

Triplefigs - Hi again! Just wanted to bump you up.

I am staying in the GVC with my kids (No husband, this time) in August. What have you heard/seen that has you less than thrilled with Poly GVC????

We stayed LVC last August and to be honest, it isn't my favorite resort. I prefer the GF and my kids actually prefer the CR. I had a lousy CR 14th floor experience last Thanksgiving and do not want to return until after the whole rehab - but that's beside the point - anyway.....The Poly is very pretty, nice atmosphere, fun pool (though crowded), large rooms, nice restaurants.....

I just was underimpressed by the CMs we ran into and the concierge staff was just so-so. Not very friendly & nice. :confused3

We decided to give the Poly a second chance this August, but I still have the GF in the back of my mind and MAY switch to GF yet!! :earboy2: The girls enjoyed the volcano slide and the orange guava juice. That is about it!! Not a whole lot of reason to stay there again, but it is a good deal with the AP rate and I did really enjoy the atmoshere (tiki torches, pretty plants, polynesian music, beach & hammocks). I feel like I still have time to change my mind to GF, but don't know if I would do SL or RPC. $$$ is the deciding factor as this will be our 5th trip since last August!!! ;) I really think you still have PLENTY of time to get that room you wanted. Unfortunately, December is still quite a ways away!!

My biggest negative against the Poly GVC is the view. From the pictures on Tikiman's site, they don't have a great view and are on the pool or garden path. When we honeymooned there we had a lovely unobstructed lagoon view. However, with the kids I think the concierge for snacks and planning would be worth the extra $10 to go to GVC.

Thanks for bumping me up!

I totally agree! Yes, you are right - there is a path right there next to the building on the garden side. I can't remember the view. When we had lagoon view concierge, we had bushes right outside our patio doors, so THAT was our view unless we went outside and around! I was underimpressed with our castle view after staying in the Tower of the CR for so many years. That CR MK view is just FABULOUS!! :flower: (You would enjoy the Tower Club in the CR - concierge with bfast & snacks)

Another bump for you!

that's sold out too... I'm really looking for some PD right now!

I am not sure what you would have expected from a garden view room but I know many love the view from Hawaii garden side. As far as the paths go there is a path near every building with an exception of the lagoon side of Tahiti and the lagoon side of Tuvalu (use t be Samoa). The garden side of Hawaii faces into the garden area that surrounds the East Pool and from some rooms the pool is visible. The location of Hawaii longhouse is also one of the best at the Polynesian.

I think maybe the bottom line is that you sound like you are not convinced that the Polynesian is a good choice so I would suggest staying at the GF.

Have a great trip.

Aloha

Steve

I think Tikiman is right that you may not be convinced to stay at the Poly. I was there in April and stayed in Tokelau (I loved it) and we could see the GVC rooms from our balcony. I would love to be able to do GVC and would not hesitate to have that side. It is still a beautiful view. But I think that if any of us are unsure, especially for the amount of money you will spend, you might want to stay where you want even if it costs more. I never regret spending money on what I really want , it's when I spend money on something that I am not sure of and it turns out to be a mistake. Good luck on your decision.
