GV Question for May trip

May Trip OKW GV question:

First night our family has a standard view studio @ BWV
Then a Sun-Friday stay @ OKW in a GV

We would like to get ourselves checked into the OKW resort early. Get bags transferred. Be prepared for the grocery delivery and pizza delivery, etc. etc. If I go to OKW on the morning of our check in what do you think our chances of a GV being ready early is? We have always had to wait until around 4:00 pm for any other room. The GV's have higher points on the weekends so I thought some GV's might stay vacant on Friday and Saturday nights. Am I wrong? Would it still be a good idea to check in early to help get a good location? I don't want to waste my time if there is no chance of getting into the GV before 4:00 pm. What are others past experiences when trying to check into a GV early in the morning?

GV are sometimes vacant on weekend nights, but are usually occupied by cash rentals, so the answer will depend entirely on occupancy the night before. Because of their size, GV's also require a bit more time for housekeeping to prepare the villa.

I'd suggest checking in early just in case there is one already available- otherwise, just plan on 4:00pm as the earliest time you'll have access to your GV.

They a wonderful accommodation though and well worth the wait.

We have never gotten into a GV before 4 PM, but I agree with Doc that you should check in early and then call for the room number before you do your grocery shopping. Our last GV trip last October, it was really difficult getting 5 "kids" (3 of them teens) out the door by 11 AM. I tried to do as much clean up as possible so the housekeeping staff would have it a little easier, but I am sure they take quite awhile to turn around. I stripped beds, took out the trash and recyclables, took care of the left over food and put all the towels in the tubs. I also filled the dishwasher and started it as we went out the door.

I was fortunate to get into a Grand Villa at 8AM Christmas week 2003 - Had been at AKL the 3 days before and went over to OKW figuring to just get checked in and was pleasantly surprised to have the room available then. It was Sunday and also was a smoking villa although I had requested NS. The CM explained that the unit had been de-smoked and I will say it seemed like it had been scrubbed from top to bottom so maybe the combination of things was why we got so lucky. You may want to change your reservation for the studio to OKW just to make life easier for yourself.

Thanks! We have never stayed @ BWV and really wanted to since it is Flower and Garden time @ Epcot. I don't know if I will have our luggage moved by Disney or use a taxi to get from BWV to OKW the next day. If we get into the Villa early I would like to have my luggage so I can unpack.

I guess I would take the luggage with in the morning too. It sure would be a lot easier to be able to unpack in case you DID get in early.

We checked into our GV on a sunday in October and were not able to get in until 3:30pm.
