He blames Disney for not having signs posted you can't bring Gina's in the park or have to tell security and thought the bag checks was for explosives not guns he has a little point Disney policy regarding that is not that clear. He had proper license and everything and tried to reclaim it once he found out he lost it. Ocso took the gun and ammo and Disney asked him to leave for the day they didn't trespass him I guess since he was apologetic. So please leave your gun at home your in a park that has security and police at the ready thankfully an adult found it and not a kid and by accident went off and killed someone.

Here's the thing, though -- this doesn't have anything to do with the Second Amendment. Disney as a private entity can absolutely condition entry into its parks upon an agreement that you not bring firearms into it. You can have legally purchased weapons and a completely legal conceal and carry permit, but Disney is still well within its rights to not let you in with firearms on your person anyway. Its park, its rules.

I know but sometimes people on here take things the wrong and I never said he broke the law just Disney rules. And since Disney use fire works they have a legal right to ban guns under Florida law.

I don't purport to be an expert on Florida law, but I'm pretty sure that Disney's right to preclude firearms on its property has nothing to do with the presence of fire works and everything to do with the fact that it's private property. If you come to my door armed to the teeth, I may not be able to do anything to infringe upon your right to bear those arms, but I sure as heck don't have to let you in because, you know, my house, my rules.

I do understand the desire to not have your post viewed as a shot across the bow, though, pun intended.

I am not trying to argue with you I agree with you and what you said your right it has to do with it being private property. I mention fire works well as I will explain but it has nothing to really do with this case.

Their was a Disney security cm at ak that got fired for having a gun this was after Florida passes a law. Saying you can have a gun as an employee but it has to be a certain place lie your trunk. And your employee has to allow it but their was certain exceptions if the ace used and stored fire works was one of them. So he i guess told another cm because he taped him self driving in to work and was greater by ocso and security and his manager they took him fired him and he sued. I think Disney won but It sparked. Debated wheatear Disney was using he law wrong I am not sure all the details. And yes his is different because it a guest not an employee but tha was also discussed when he was suing.

Hw did he get past security? This is a little scary...

Probably pretty easily, actually. He could have had it in his pocket, in his waistband, in an ankle holster, etc. and if it wasn't in a bag he was carrying or out in the open, there would be no opportunity for it to be noticed. Remember, you don't walk through a metal detector to enter the park and if you don't have a bag, you get waved right by.

Luckily, it was found by an adult.

Imagine what could have happened had a child found a gun loaded with 5 hollow point bullets.

This is not a debate on gun control laws.

Just imagine your family sitting in front of the child who found the gun with the five hollow point bullets.

A bullet was dodged.

( Dont hate me. I couldnt help myself.)

Hw did he get past security?
Seriously? It could have been in his backpack that the guard spent an eighth of a second looking at, barely taking note of the contents at all.

Sorry but bag checks accomplish virtually nothing as far as actually checking the contents of bags. They are more about profiling. Since this guy was carrying a legal weapon and didn't think he was doing anything wrong, he probably went through security just fine and didn't set off any signals that he might be trouble.

From the way it appears it fell out of his waistband and on the seat, It was near the small of his back. If he entered without a backpack or bags he would not even been looked at by security. They would have just waved him threw the no bags line.

It says the gun fell out of his pocket, it was probably in his side pocket. And it was probably in a holster. Don't know, just going off of what a responsible gun owner would most likely do.

With regards to the law, Disney can make whatever rules it wants to. It's private property.

FL law though legally cannot file criminal charges against anyone carrying a gun on Disney property if they have a CCW.

Disney can ban you from the property, but that's about it.

ETA... by the way... anyone who thinks that nobody carries guns at Disney, think again. Just go onto any gun owner's internet chat site and do a search for Disney and read for yourself. A lot of people do it. On any given day there are probably several people with a gun there.

i can bet that disney will be tightening their security after this incident... it obviously isnt that hard to get stuff into the park without getting caught by the "security guards"..

Bering from Canada I just don't get why someone feels they need to carry a gun with them to a theme park or at all.

Where I work here in Virginia I had a customer walk in with a shot gun. It scared me and my coworkers to death. One of my managers is a retired cop and said it was perfectly legal for him as long as he doesnt make a threatening move. I hope this incident at AK will not happen again, or anywhere else. It is really lucky that a responsible adult found that, and not a young child who could think it was fake and fire off a round or two.

While this may be the case, isn't Disney considered private property - one that has a right to ban weapons being brought into the parks? That's the rationale as far as I understand.

In my opinion, knives shouldn't be permitted either. When at AK in April, I saw a man pull out an enormous knife at the Island Mercantile - in front of three CMs who did nothing but stare - to cut off the tag of a toy for his child. It looks like Disney security needs some more training on how to check bags or a new system altogether.

Yes, but Disney's rule doesn't supercede the law. Legally, he's allowed to carry that gun. By Disney rules, he's not. So can Disney remove him from the property and/or trespass him if they desired? Yes. However that's all they can do.

And I have to ask. Was it really an "enormous" knife? Who would carry that in their pocket anyway? Are you sure it was a pocket knife with a typical 4 to 6 inch blade, that flips open? I would not consider that an enormous knife.

Why anyone feels then need to carry a weapon into WDW is beyond rational thinking. I have a small Swiss Army knife on my car keychain that I remove and keep at the villa before I head to the parks. I the words on Ron White, "You can't fix stupid"

:confused3

So everyone would like Disney to start pat downs it body scanners because he had it in his back pocket. So no matter how much security looks they wouldn't of found it with out a pat down. While yes they so need to do a refresher for them but unless they start to do pat downs they wouldn't of found it.

Our local amusement park has metal detectors at the front gate. I hope Disney doesn't have to resort to that but there are a lot of crazy people in the world and a crowded theme park is a big target.
