Guide Recommendation? VGF centric

We are considering adding on VGF direct to our current resales points (BCV). We don't have a Guide since we started with resale. Does anyone have a recommendation for a Guide they've used for VGF direct purchase that they felt did an especially good job and would suggest we contact to explore options?

Can you even request a specific Guide this way, or is it a round-robin assignment?

I started off with a guide I didn’t care for. He must’ve left and then Roderick Evans called me to let me know he was my new guide. He was 100% better. Helped me add on to copper creek and with my use year I needed to bank points after the banking deadline and Roderick actually called and waited on hold on my behalf and then conferenced me in when someone finally picked up. This was when hold times were super crazy. He then called me to tell me about the VGF member prices (and luggage set) and I just couldn’t pass up adding on there. I took him a pecan pie last year when I visited Orlando but missed him because he was working the cruise.

Very nice! Roderick sounds promising. Does he have an extension # or email?

I haven't spoken with a Guide yet so I'm clueless on how that works. Thanks!

I met Rod back in 2019 in the SSR showrooms for RIV. Within 3 months of research we were resale members at AKV and Rod knows I’m a diehard white card pleb so doesn’t even bother to contact me anymore. Nice guy though

Really? Even starting only as resale? I haven't spoken with anyone or seen any information on a contact for us. I'll dig around in our DVC online account profile, etc.
They assign you one after closing but it is often not apparent until they either call or you try to buy direct

I would recommend my guide, Robert Aylesworth, he's super nice, knowledgeable, professional, and never pressured me to buy...I met him on site at the VGF villas while I was walking through Grand Floridian. He took me on a tour of the 2 DVC buildings as well as walked me through the refurbished studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and Grand Villa (spectacular!). I did not buy on the spot as I had to think about it and it was no big deal to him! He even sent me a surprise little gift in the mail about a month later. I feel totally comfortable with him, which is saying something, as I do not like salespeople (especially timeshare ones)! Note that you do not have to go with your assigned guide, you can select the one you're comfortable with. I've met other DVC guides and I like Robert the most. I will be adding-on points with him in the future. Hope that helps.

BTW - his direct line is 407-827-4465 or 877-727-6228.

I was resale first. When I went to VGF last year to do an add on, they checked and I was never assigned a guide. I met with the guide who happened to be there that day. I was adding on no matter what, so it didn’t really matter. Along the way, I really wasn’t very happy with him. Thankfully, I am pretty knowledgeable about dvc and VGF from these boards. It seemed like any question I asked about dvc or VGF he answered wrong🙄.

I am glad to hear I can switch. I would like to have someone different before Poly2 comes along. I don’t really want him getting commission on something I did all the research on myself.

Very helpful! Thank you very much. I will definitely chat with Robert.

Nothing much to how it works. Guides are merely an audible form of this board if they/you call.

While we've not bought any direct points for around 6 years, our current guide is much more in-contact than the one we worked with buying in. He was good but not as communicative as our guide now. She was assigned to us when we learned that Joe was among those laid off at shutdown.

Not to say she's pushy or anything like that, she simply sends the occasional email or rings us to remind that she's available whenever we need anything. She did a great job getting us an extension on a recommend reward we'd gotten when a coworker of DH's bought RIV. It would have expired a couple months ago. Kanlane got us an extension to cover our upcoming trip.

She called a couple days ago only to wish us a Welcome Home in advance and to say there'll be a little surprise waiting for us at any DVC kiosk.

Lovely phone voice, too, something I notice having been a speech teacher.

Thank you! I greatly appreciate the recommendation.

Since the subject of your thread includes this:

VGF centric

I wanted to say that there might be guides who are especially knowledgeable about California or Hawaii DVCs, but I'm not aware of any who specialize within the Orlando DVCs. So I don't know if there is one who is VGF centric.

Ellease Aponte was amazing! She was randomly assigned to us and was professional and let us take months to buy. She answered all of our questions and never pressured us. I would highly recommend her if you still need someone. The current promotions at VGF are great and where my wife and I eventually decided to buy. If you mention a DVC member referred you, you get $500 off the purchase too.

That's a good point. I wasn't sure if some guides had a "home base" and might be more in tune with the specific resort.
