Hi All,

Never been to Disney with an infant and I keep going back and forth as to whether or not to do it. Hubby thinks we should go for it and is very helpful with the children. My other boys will be 7 and 11 and we've been taking the older boys to WDW since they were 3 years old. Im just not sure about the baby. Staying at POR, requested crib and refrigerator. Just wanted to hear from others who have done it and their experience with the trip.

BTW the baby is a souvenier from last years trip!

I did it 6 yrs ago.....DD was 3 months, DS3yr, DS4yrs, dd6......I will always remember the trip fondly....When she was awake she loved watching the shows...I think she was just beginning to be able to focus....She sleep alot of our time in the parks....I didn't do the schedule sleeping thing as it would never have worked...she sleep when ever she felt like it during the day and I just made sure she had awake time at night so as to not exhaust the rest of us....

I would double check the crib....WDW uses pack and plays for cribs in all the hotels I've been in ....if you want a regular standard crib you will have to rent off site......

I did it with a 5mo, and it was a piece of cake. They're so portable at that age. :-)

My best piece of advice is to take advantage of the baby care centers. My DD wouldn't nurse in the parks (I found some great private spots) because there was just too much going on. The little nursing rooms were quiet and restful, with nice rockers.

BTW, she's now 4 and about to go to WDW for the 4th time!

My DD was 3 mo. old on her first trip and we'll be returning in Sept. for her 3rd trip to celebrate her 5th bday. We went over XMas tho, so the weather was warm/cool. She slept in the stroller and we took advantage of the baby swap for several attractions. Congrat's on your little souvenir - is her name Aurora? :D

I did it last month with a 3 and 1/2 month old. I also did it 6 years ago with a baby of the same age. Are you nursing? If so, you have to be realistic about how much park time you will actually have that's not being spent feeding the baby. I was in the baby care centers a lot while DH and the older boys were off playing. I was glad we did it. We did have a good time, as always. It's just a bit different than most of the trips. I also went in May when I was 6 months pregnant with him and I would say that while there were things I couldn't ride then--I probably got to do a lot more stuff then than when the baby was 3 months old. I would probably never say no to a WDW trip. I will admit that I told my husband that because of the amount of time I spent nursing it probably wasn't a good use of money to buy my park ticket. Still glad I did it even though it may not have been a good value on my ticket.

We took DD for her first trip in Aug.02 when she was 3 mo. old. She was soooo easy compared to DS (3 1/2 at the time). She slept most of the time and nursed the rest. My only issue with her was that she refused to take a bottle at the time, so I had to be a little more creative with my ride plans when I wanted to do something with DS. I only used the baby centers once when we got caught in a rainstorm. Other than that, I found a shady bench or an air conditioned ride to feed her on. That way, I wansn't traveling all over the park to find the baby centers and I could hang out with MIL or DH while one or the other took DS on rides. I also used one of those clip-on fans for her stroller. I checked with my pediatrician before we left and she gave me permission to use suncreen on her arms and legs, but not hands and feet in case those parts ended up in her mouth. We took it easy and spent all of our afternoons back at the room for naps and pool time. Good luck, I think you'll be fine.

The age is absolutely not the problem as has been said before - they sleep - they eat - they don't care where they are. The problem lies in the sun and heat. We added with the help of pins to the canopy on our stroller a sunscreen you would use in the back window of the car. It was long enough to arch over the entire canopy's front area expaning the sun screen ability of the stroller. We also used the Baby Blanket sunscreen - it is basically washcloths soaked in sunscreen - much easier to put on than creams or sprays with an infant. But do get permission from your pediatrician to after you gte their OK put the sunscreen on and test first in a small spot to make sure they are not allergic. I agree with having a fan - we used paper fans but it woul dhave been easier to have a real fan to clip on the stroller. We also used a clip on umbrella on the stroller but this was a little worthless - what reall worked was the extra sunscreen on the front in addition to the canopy.

There are many places that are great escapes from the heat like the Main Street Cinema in MK and the gallery of artists in MGM. Use every oportunity to get the little one out of the heat.

I think you'll be just fine, but I am one of those who would never turn down a WDW trip either.

My first child was 6 mos. old on her first trip, and my second child was 4 mos. on her first trip. This coming October we will be travelling with the girls (who will be 3 and 5) and their new brother or sister who will be about 3 mos. They are really easy at that age. I think you will be quite surprised.

Have fun!

We were in Orlando early December with our then 3 month old. We had a lovely trip, the baby was no bother, I bottlefeed so that wasn't an issue.
We took it slowly and just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves, it wasn't our first trip so we weren't worried about having to 'do' everything.

I think we took the baby on most of the rides we did (our 6 year old is not a big thrill seeker, so most of what she liked worked for the baby), the only things I can remember not taking her on was goofy's barnstormer, and Rock n Roller coaster (obviously!)

I have a question in regards to this. I have an child who will be under three when we go. Does he require any types of passes or anything?

HI
thank you all for sharing your experiences! I think we will just go for it- I am reluctant to turn down a WDW trip as well, my children and hubby look so forward to our trips to the world.

Your ideas and imput have been a great help.

Regarding the question for under 3 needing a ticket, the answer is no - tickets are only required for children 3-9 and then 10 and over.
