Guest Test of Magic Bands (Official Notice)

We are staying at POR September 5th through 13th. Today our My Disney Experience was updated to include the My Magic bands and FP+ items on the right. I could read the info and get to the FP+ selection page, but could go no further because the dates didn't match our reservation.

I think this is the same as many have reported. It is one step closer, anyway. Crossing my fingers that we have Magic Bands + FP+!!

Tip of sword, baby, tip of the sword! :cool1: :thumbsup2

I have that too! Freaked me out a bit!:scared1: Didn't think we were that close! I kind of don't want it for Sept, but if it is indeed live, I feel like I better jump on that wagon so I don't miss out...

Mine is doing that as well. Guest Relations CM I spoke with said that by end of year full launch will be out including CM and AP use but for now ignore just link any ticket and hotels to your MDE so if a test is available Disney will contact you.

Notified starting today for stays beginning July 22nd

WOW! if this is true, then I'm just missing it. We will be @ BLT starting on the 28th.

And that "Wow!" is really a "Phew!" I dont want to be involved in this test. Give me 1 more family vacation the way I know how (with reg FP) and then they have over 300 days until our next trip to work the bugs out.

Any other confirmed info on this?

One of the other FAQs on that page was if you could use both systems- and the answer was no. Looks like they are narrowing down the rules...

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/fast-pass-plus/ability-to-use-with-fast-pass/

That rule hasn't been narrowed. The Terms and Conditions have had that in there since the very beginning. All we know that it means is that the legacy FP machines have no way to read a MagicBand, so by virtue of adopting a MagicBand, you're opting out of the old FP system. What we don't know is how long those legacy machines will be around or if the new system will have a same-day FP component similar to the old system.

The newly released FAQ on the Disney Website always say..."Up To 4". The Terms and Conditions say that FP+ will be available based on time of year, day of week, experience, prior demand etc.

Well I suppose 4 is better than three but I still don't like the one park restriction. We like to park hop and not be tied to one park per day so we would like the option to get fast passes in another park.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/fast-pass-plus/fast-pass-plus-impact-on-lines/ says:

Q. Will FastPass+ service make the attraction standby lines longer?

A. We do not anticipate that the attraction standby queues will be any longer than they were before FastPass+ service.

I'm sorry Disney, but that's just an outright lie. You can let extra people in, prioritising them in the front of the existing line, without making the existing line go more slowly. Anyone with slightest grasp of crowd handling would know this, and it would dismay me even more if I thought that Disney had so little understanding of their own crowd dynamics.

I don't mind them bending the truth a little to suit their need to make the system more appealing, but when they start telling full-blown lies it annoys me.

I can only assume that they will offset the amount of people using fastpass+ with less paper fastpasses so I can definitely see it being possible that the standby lines will not be much longer

Except for the attractions that are getting FP+ that offered exactly 0 FPs before. ;)

Note that "up to four" means they could just offer two most of the time.

In which the use will be so minimal, by people who don't realize what they are doing, that they won't appreciably affect anything, and/or at attractions where the capacity is greater than the demand anyways...

It remains to be seen what the effect truly is...

At existing FP attractions, I actually expect standby lines to go faster.

This remains to be seen, but there is no math that would convince me they won't be at least as long. Attractions that I expect to be most affected include mid-tiers such as Pirates, Mansion, and Small World to name a few. I must say I am surprised by your answer. :goodvibes

The standby lines may go faster, but there will be a lot more people in them...

This would only work at MK, that park has the ride capacity to absorb 4. Animal kingdom doesn't without Avatar. Epcot and DHS would really need lots of people choosing LMA, beauty and beast, parades, Fantasmic!, captain EO, the land, and illuminations.
