Guest Laundries at GF?

I know; a lot of people won't even consider doing laundry on vacation. But I hate the thought of carting home a bunch of dirty clothes. We usually stay DVC and have a washer/dryer in the villa, but this trip was spur-of-the-moment and no DVC rooms were available. We originally booked the Contemporary Tower, but dh and ds, knowing how much I've wanted to stay at the GF, changed the ressie to the Grand!

So now I need to know -- are there laundry rooms in each building? We have a garden view booked.

Things may have changed since I went 2 years ago in Oct. 2003, but when we stayed at the GF I was very upset that the Sugar Loaf building was the only building without a laundry room, and that was where we were staying.
This is the concierge lodge, and I know this does not apply to your stay, but just know that there is a building without its own laundry.

I still loved the GF though in spite of that!

Both at Sago Cay and Big Pine Key there was a laundry room - however for the whole building there are only two washers and two dryers - good luck!

Thanks for the info. I looked on allears -- don't know how I missed that!!!

I'm surprised that there are such limited laundry facilities. We were at AKL last year and the laundry room was huge!! Maybe it *shouldn't* surprise me though -- most luxury level guests probably don't spend time doing the wash!

I never had a problem doing laundry at GF...though it wasn't very frequent. It seemed like a laundry room was never very far from our room (one on each hall, I think) and I was usually the only person in there.

Yes, I've seen the laundry room at AKL, too, and it's huge! I think that the room to washer/dryer ratio is part of the equation though--I don't remember as many laundry rooms at AKL as there are at GF, but I'm not positive. In any case, I had no problem with the coin-op laundry system at GF.
