A dog run & play area is being built near the playground area of the 300 loop. As of January - there will be no more specific pet loops. All loops will welcome pets. I knew it was coming - just didn't know when.

Again, don't ask me how I got this info .... I don't reveal my sources!:ssst:

I hate that. I like dogs don't get me wrong but I don't own one therefore when I'm at the fort I don't want to hear yapping. We had a barker in the 900 loop back in July that I felt like ringing his neck. Hopefully owners will respect others and not let dogs do that.

Well I hate that too and I love doggies  but I would rather be placed where if my dog does get on a barking spree that people around me understand.

Sometimes you really don't know that your dogs a barker, the people we stayed next to in a camper at the beach came over and sat with us having the cutie mixed dog you ever layed your eyes on and the people talked about how he never hardly ever barked ...well needless to say whenever they were down at the beach the dog barked for three hours straight
Now we found it funny but I could see how others would have been mad about it.

Seems to me pet owners are more able to take the barking than non-pet owners. Or even worse getting by someone that allergic to pets, geez that's bad. :scared:

I've owned a dog all my life and always bring him to FW and if this is true, I think it's a big mistake. There are a number of campers who, for one reason or another, just don't want to camp around pets. They may be allergic, or phobic, or whatever, but they certainly have the right to a vacation without camping next to a pet. I am probably one of the few who is not happy about the kennel being operated by an outside vendor, either. It was a good system that worked and Disney is trying to fix it.

I hope this is a joke, because I don't like to camp next to dogs. I made a suggestion to a campground at the beach that they should make a section for no animals and see how many people would like to stay in it. It's hard to have a vacation when it's dog's barking all the time or your having to scrape dog crap off of your shoe's.

I have to say, I have owned a dog since I was born, I love dogs, but I leave my 2 dogs at home. I have had apartments, and paid the big $ to have my dog live with me. Even in the apartments that I lived in, there were buildings with pets and without.
I don't feel that it is fair that I pay for a quiet vacation, and I might end up next to some yappy little ankle biter that won't shut up. I think making the whole cg pet ok, is a bad decision, I liked it just the way it was.
Just my .02 worth.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I saw the construction and guessed that was what they were doing. I agree, it will be a lot of noise, but hopefully it will have hours along with the dog run.;)

It is not a joke. I suggest that you request a loop on the other side of Meadow Trading post (1000 or so) so that you won't hear them.

I know this won't be true for everyone, but I can honestly say that in all the time we've spent at FtW since they've opened the campground to pets, I only recall one time a dog was really disturbing. I didn't blame the poor pup, either. The owners left him leashed outside all evening, and he was "howling" lonely. A Disney worker finally came and took the dog to the kennel around midnight as the owners still hadn't returned. (Really responsible owners, huh?)

I know when we were at FtW earlier this month there was a family with 3 shelties on the 100 loop & also a family with two large, mixed breed dogs - in a tent - on the 2000 loop. When I questioned a loop attendant about this she said the loop attendants were told not to confront a guest about why they had animals on non-pet loops.

I would suggest if you are really bothered by camping next to dogs that when you check in you speak to a Front Desk Manager (not a college temp or regular check-in person) and really voice your opinion. After all - at the prices you pay for your campsite, non-pet lovers deserve a peaceful vacation too.

I love dogs, but have seen some really ignorant pet owners at FtW over the years - and I don't relish the ideas of dogs being walked anywhere at FtW. The dog crap will be everywhere! Just imagine the beach with land-mines!

This is what has been needed for along time!!! Good to hear something is being done!!:hippie:

Just called an old friend who is a manager at FW. He said the pet loops will not change. He said not to believe anything you read on the Internet.

Does this mean pets will be allowed to leave the loops? I sure hope not. I bring my pets to FW, but I dont want to deal with anyones animal while I'm sitting on the front porch of Crocketts or sunning at the pool or.....anywhere else.:sad2:

A dog run park is currently under construction at the right side of the entrance to the 300 loop. What would be the purpose of a dog run if owners are not allowed to take their pets out of the other pet loops? Why would dogs knowingly be on loops that previously have never allowed dogs? Overflow doesn't apply in the two cases I saw earlier this month because dogs have never been allowed on the 2000 loop (even in overflow situations) or in tents, and to my knowledge the 100 loop has never allowed dogs either except service dogs. The 3 shelties I saw on the 100 loop earlier this month were not service dogs & I casually inquired of the owners how they were allowed to stay in the 100 loop with dogs. They were seemingly honest & said they asked for the 100 loop & did reserve a site for pets. So.... go figure.

I was told in August by a FtW manager (John) that the old Osprey Ridge & Eagle Pines golf courses were going to be used for a FtW expansion. So much for that story - the property has been either sold or 99 year leased to Four Season's Resort & timeshares are going to be built there.

I'm just reporting what I observed with my own eyes & from questions I asked.

I am former Disney cast member and my old friend is my college roommate. I don’t think he is telling me a story.

personally dont mind the pets, i mind the owners. stayed in a pet loop over thanksgiving, no problems with noise, problems with owners not picking up after their pets, owners taking their pets to the medow,on cart rides, outside the loops, etc. now i know its a vacation but rules are there for a reason and should be followed. why should i not be allowed to use my skateboard anymore(at my age i shouldnt anyway, but thats another story). i was there when they went to pet loops, and when they expanded pet loops. i was also told when i had an ankle bitter, that since i had a pop-up at the time i could not bring the dog, it had to be a tt or better. now when i go its anything goes for pets and their owners(not all owners are bad, like they say it takes 1 bad apple to spoil the bunch). just my 2 cents worth, but i really hate scrapin dog poo off a 3 yr olds shoes.

Well put, Dogg.

I own a landscape/lawn maintenance business and it just amazes me how many people out there walk there dogs and just because it's a commercial property, they think their dog can plop anywhere he wants to and nobody has to clean up after it. It's nasty, stinks, and carries disease. I'm a fairly easy going guy but I've gotten to the point if I see it happening, I say something.

Well I for one am very glad to hear that FWC might be opening up more areas for pets. I know it's been about four years since I camped their with one, but I am so looking forward to going back with my new 5th wheel and twin BT's whom are now 6years old. I pay $75 a day for my kids to be taken care for 24 hours a day in their own home while DH and I are on vacation when they can't go with us, so it will be so nice to save that money and have them with me instead. Besides, I've been to Disney so many times that I personally go to the campground to do things other than go to the parks. Hence, I would never leave me kids alone for more than an hour a day. It's not a family vacation without the "entire" family. :)
It's a shame that their are just some pet owners out there that would just rather spoil it for the rest of us that are responsible and will spend whatever it takes on our four-legged kids. I would even be willing to do a non-refundable pet fee above the $5 a day if it would help as I would like to have more access to other loops with my kids.
Remember Universal Studios has the Lowes resorts that are 5 star accomodations that are on property that give you front of theline access that allows pets. I have stayed there and it was amazing to see how much my four legged kids were catered too, so Disney has got to stay competive in the resort pet market. FWC is all that Disney offers....I'd have paid to stay at one of the resorts instead, but I had to buy another camper to go back to Disney. That's okay, FWC is beautiful. :) Though, I do miss my room service when I am camping. LOL!

We stayed on the 200 loop earlier this month and we also saw a few dogs on the 100 and 200 loops. I knew they were not allowed, but we just minded our own business and went on our way. I just wondered to myself, why do they think he rules didn't apply to them like they did to all the other pet owners. I love my 7 dogs too, but I also leave them home.

When we were there earlier this month we saw quite a few people walking their dogs around the campground out of their loops. We even saw a few riding around on golf carts. Some people just think the rules are for other people. Same goes with picking up after their pet. They give us responsible pet owners a bad name.
