Guess what we were the first cruise to see the other day

The chocolate buffet was in the Navigator, but Pirate Night and Frozen were not. Our servers told us about all three. I loved my dinner - I had the Jarlsberg tart, the field greens salad, and the striploin. For dessert I had Olaf's white chocolate floro dome, which was both adorable and tasty. I don't remember liver in anything except the pate dip that was brought out with the bread, and perhaps in the meat and cheese appetizer. I thought the menu was pretty cool!
Was it in the paper Navigator or on the app? I looked at the paper navigator only once the night before whatever day it was for. I relied on the app version but it was very buggy for me. I probably just forgot about the chocolate buffet. But that app! Never had that much trouble with it before. For a couple days all it showed me was character times. I had Puerto Vallarta listed until mid morning the day we were supposed to be there. And none of us, 6 people in 2 rooms, could ever get the messaging feature to work.

I had the assorted meats & cheese appetizer off the Frozen menu. One of the meats we joked looked just like Fancy Feast canned cat food. LOL! I tried it out of curiosity. It had the exact texture and taste of potted meat. I had eaten potted meat as a child visiting relatives in the South. All I needed was some white bread (soft) and ketchup. LOL! I loved the green salad w/lingonberry dressing. That was awesome! In fact, as per my usual, I had the salad pre-entree then as my entree with the lighter note steak. Yummy!

There was also a special "frozen" themed menu in the dining room that night which included a fair amount of liver in various forms along with a number of other unsavory to many items. I'm sure some loved it, but there was an awful lot of full plates bring cleared away. Our server Commented that there were many complaints. The wild boar I tried wasn't too my liking for sure!
The meat & cheese appetizer was pretty shocking. The meats were not standard things that I'd think would be crowd pleasers. As I've mentioned before, 1 was the spitting image of potted meat. 1 was like a hogs head cheese. I did try a tiny taste of everything on the plate but that was all. The plate went back fairly full. LOL! My hubby had the wild boar & liked it. I tried a bite & also liked it. We eat wild game readily at home so that may be a factor. ;)

I didn't see them listed but I knew about them. Our servers told us numerous times when & where they were. The Pirate buffet went off after the fireworks. I knew that one. Been to one before. The chocolate buffet they had to tell me about. Didn't know about it. It was at 11:00 in Tritons on the night of the Officer's Ball, I think. Hopefully someone else can confirm. I didn't go to it because I forgot. We went to the adult show offerings instead. Not a huge loss for me since I was watching my eating during the cruise and I'm not that wild about the desserts onboard in general. I would've gone just to see it and take pics. LOL!

You mean they did the chocolate buffet recently? That was stopped years ago. Wonder if it's just for the Alaska cruises.

It was in the paper navigator, though listed in the app under dining hours for Triton's. I didn't have much trouble with the app beyond it freezing up when they updated it. The day only characters showed up was the day all the computers were down, so it messed up the app, too. Messaging was also messed up that day. I loved having the app so much!

I knew the meat and cheese platter would be things not to my taste, so I skipped that one! Not into knockwurst and liverwurst, which apparently were also featured on the Frozen buffet. From what I heard the buffet was the "miss" on Frozen night, other than the decor, because it went very traditional and Scandinavian food is both unfamiliar and too heavy for late night dining shortly after dinner.

If I was making the decisions I would have some light crudités with tasty dips, maybe a couple of Scandinavian dishes, and a small version of the chocolate buffet, just the things that don't require a server. Like the pastries they had at the princess tea.

the meat and cheese platter was pretty gross lol, my teen wasn't hungry and ordered it as his dinner, he ate the cracker and the piece of brie we left and went to beach blanket right after

A bit off subject, but I wanted to jump in and say that the app seems to have been hit or miss. We very few problems with ours (occassionally the messages were delayed when sent, but that was the only issue) but did encounter folks that had their freezing up and other problems. Not sure why it worked so well for some but not for others.

we didn't have any issues with the app on the iphones, they ipad it didn't work for my MIL when she had it on 2 devices

Just a little sampling of Frozen night buffet. They had the home made crepes, just like pirate night.

They also had Freezing the Night Away on the recent EBTA cruise while we were in Norway. I thought the show was cute. We did not get to the buffet as the line was massive to get in to Cabanas but the show was nice. I also watched them practicing late at night up on Deck 9 and it was nice to see it all come together.

This is how light it was at 10:30 at night in Norway....pretty cool.

I had the best dessert ever at the buffet, it was an apple crumble cake and it was absolutely delicious.

Did anyone dress up for Frozen night? I am wondering if I should get my girls some Anna/Elsa t-shirts?

On the Magic they had adult t-shirts that said "Freezing the Night Away" logo. They also had other adult Frozen tops.

There were many kids in Elsa and Anna dresses for the deck party. Many adults in their new t-shirts.
