We are coming to the FORT!!!! Finally after a couple of years of really wanting to go, we are finally doing it. We will be checking in April 26-May 3! I can not wait, although DH started talking about snakes and made me freak out that one would be sitting in my pop up one night returning from MK! So I will be customizing my magic bands tomorrow! I can not wait at all. Maybe some of you will be there! Dh and I are a little worried about not having bathrooms for the kids but I think we will make do! :):):)

I'm so happy for you.. Try not to worry about the snakes too much. I don't think you will find one in your pop up.

Congrats on booking your trip. We are heading down from Oxford PA in a couple of weeks for our first trip to the Fort, can't wait to get away from this winter that doesn't want to end.

Congrats! You can request a site near the comfort station. Have a great time!

Hey jeepin dad, it's so funny to find people on here that are practically neighbors. That is the entire reason why we booked this trip. DH is a manager for giant and it has just been so brutal on him. I was really surprised that my sons school allowed me to take him out, but I think a lot of parents are. I'm just glad this storm seems to be fast and not dumping so much on us( at least my fingers are crossed) :)

Thank you everyone else, it's been such a work in progress for awhile but I'm so excited. Plus if my jewelry business takes off we may be back in August or October!

. . . although DH started talking about snakes and made me freak out . . .

1) Glad to hear you are visiting Our Fort.
2) PLEASE, do not worry about snakes.
3) What you REALLY need to worry about are
. . . 5'5" rodents
. . . 6'2" yellow dogs
. . . 5'7" chipmunks
. . . 7'0" bears called Humphrey

I 'hate' snakes, and am scared to death of them - won't even go near a reptile building at zoos, etc.

Having said that, we have been going to the Fort since they opened, and I have 'never' seen a snake there - others have, and sure, it's woods, and some are there, but they aren't crawling all over the camping area. ;)

Go, and thoroughly enjoy your vacation there! :goodvibes

Snakes aren't that bad.
It's the squirrels that will get you. Snakes usually work alone, but squirrels hunt in packs.
You'll be lured outside by a cute little furry guy who entertains you by eating the Froot Loops you hand him...meantime the other 4 are cleaning out the fridge and coolers...

We are pulling our boys out of school for our trip too. We also pulled them out for a couple days last fall for a trip to Shenandoah National Park and then have picked up early on a Friday for a couple other camping trips and the school has never given us a hard time about it.

I'm really happy we aren't getting the snow totals they were predicting a couple days ago. I've been dealing with this winter by dreaming of camping and planning camping trips, we have 34 nights booked so far and have a couple more weekends that I'll be booking in the near future. We went to the Philly RV show last Saturday and almost ended up with a new camper.

We went on Friday and almost did as well. We live right down the road from stolsfuz rv , my father worked for them so they are almost like family to us. We have a pop up and really wanted a hybrid or enclosed. We almost bought from the gold rush people from Pottstown. We were a little disappointed as Hershey had a lot more than this show especially in our affordable range. We agreed we would probably try and buy at Hershey this year. We are planning to go back to cape May and also would like to try jelly stone in quaryville.

We had no trouble pulling our kids out for some extra Christmas (Winter) Break time when we showed how educational it could be...think EPCOT World Showcase, AK Safari, even MK Jungle Cruise. I guess you could even stretch a point and show how a Science experiment gone wrong could produce a 5'5" mouse. :)

We had a popup for a few years until we out grew it last year and bought a used TT. Ours doesn't have a slide and after seeing the added space the ones with the slides have my wife was ready to buy. We found one she liked but the build quality and storage was lacking, we then found another one that we both really liked but the dealership wouldn't negotiate on price.

We have trips planned for Shenandoah and Acadia National Parks, two trips to Pine Grove Furnace State Park near Gettysburg, two trips to Little Pine State Park near Williamsport, a trip to Laurel Hill State Park, Susquehanna State Park in Maryland, and Twin Grove Campground. We also want to do a Halloween theme weekend in October and think we might head to the campground at Knoebels. And then the boys and I usually have a couple of tent camping trips with the Cub Scouts.

Hey Jeepin Dad, you stay in the camper at Shenandoah NP or stay in the park hotel? We stayed in the hotel in 2003 when we went and are contemplating a round trip NP camper tour starting off at Mammoth Cave NP going over to Shenandoah, and then coming down to Great Smoky Mountains. You can PM me if you prefer, just trying to get an idea of how it was if you camped.

“ how a Science experiment gone wrong could produce a 5'5" mouse.”

Shows what you know about science…his parents were 6’2” and 4’10”!!!!

Now DH is trying to convince me to take our tent down and leave the pop up home !!!!!

That wouldn't go over well my wife, she only camps with the camper these days. The only thing our tent gets used for is when the boys and I camp with the Cub Scouts.

We just bought a jayco 18d at the oaks camper show, traded our old 89 pop up in so know we are ready for our August trip to the fort. Canceled our Polynesian trip and rebooked for the Fort, can't wait. The only thing I hate is the drive from the Philly Pa area to Disney with 3 kids

Congrats on the new camper, looks like a nice floor plan.

That is why we usually drive straight through the night but that is getting really old as DH does not work night shift anymore. This will be our first trip towing down there so we have decided to leave earlier than normal. Hope you enjoy your new camper! Maybe we will see you in August if DH and I go back down for our anniversary! :)
