Guess on Homeschool Day 2014

Well shoot - I just realized that a Feb homeschool day puts us in "peak" pricing for lodging! I'm starting to wonder if doing a YES program in Jan would be better than homeschool day with more expensive lodging? Hmm....

exactly.

Wow. Those are really late dates. I wonder why?

We now go in the Fall every year because that is when DH's work sends him to a conference. (end of Oct/first of Nov.) Since they cover part of the trip, it makes it better for us, even with the more expensive parent YES tickets.

Now we just need those Jan dates. It should be interesting since they moved the HS days......

I know - I'm hoping they will announce in beginning of November.. I felt like I knew what we were doing for Jan and now all our plans are out the window!

The date is not officially posted on Disney's website, but you can actually book Homeschool Days right now. It is Feb. 27th, BUT the tickets are valid longer than in the past Feb. 11th - March 10th. You still need to go to the program on the 27th, though.

Does anyone know if the fall Homeschool days will be posted in Feb after that class is finished? Is that the time it is usually announced? We have an early October trip planned (we do homeschool), so I'm hoping we can go during our stay. :cool1:

We looked at the Fall 2013 Homeschool Day Prices when we started our planning for our next WDW trip. The prices in Oct. 2013 were slightly less expensive than the Feb. 2013 ones are. Started at $154 for a 3 day regular pass (not hopper) vs. the $167 price for that same ticket in Feb. 2014 and went up to $224 for 6 day premium ticket in Oct. 2013 vs. the $249 for the same type of ticket in Feb. 2014.

I found another group on facebook called Homeschool Travel Adventures that is planning a Jan. 2014 trip and supposedly can get the same discount ticket rates, but not the discounted YES workshop prices. I'm considering that one too.

Do the homeschool days sell out? When should you buy the tickets by??

I don't know the long term track record, but I do know that with the program this past month, you could still enroll a week or so before the scheduled date.

Gosh I just discovered there WAS a homeschooling days at Disney (this is our first year homeschooling). But please excuse my confusion--can somebody clarify what exactly this is for me? Are there two separate entities--a homeschool days AND YES programs? Or are these two separate things?

Curious about the same thing. Looking to plan a trip in September or October 2014. Anyone know if they usually wait to announce the fall homeschool dates until after the winter date (Jan 2014)? When do they usually announce the fall dates for the year?

We're going with the Carolina Homeschooler group in September. Have you seen their trip? The link is carolinahomeschooler.com/atravel.html

They don't usually announce the next Homeschool Days event until after the current one, so look on their site or call In early March.

Homeschool Days is an event that takes place twice a year in the Fall and Winter. There is a special class that includes all members of the family. It's a big event. You must attend at least this event. They also do a bunch of the smaller classes around the date of the program in which students can participate, but they are for an extra fee and are not required to get discount tickets. Homeschool Days gives special deep discounts for the entire family, including parents.

YES tickets also used to provide deep discounts, but now they don't. They only offer a very small discount now. YES tickets are available for a variety of dates throughout the year, though not usually during peak travel times, except for some summer dates. These are for the small classes.

If you are flexible with dates, the Homeschool Days events will save you hundreds more dollars than the new YES program, but they don't release the exact date of the major event (attendance required for discount tickets) until after the current event. So if you can't go on Feb. 27th this year, you will have to wait until March or later to find out the exact date for the Fall event.

However, if you have a group of 10 or more students, you can sign up the group for a class and get the deep discount. This is what the Carolina Homeschoolers and other homeschool groups do. They get the savings and a fun group while getting to pick their own travel times.

Where would I go to find out when they post the October dates?:confused3
