After our dinner at the Cali Grill and staying up late, we woke up super early to go to EM hour at Animal Kingdom. We arrived about 30 min. early and awaited the all important rope drop. Then we hightailed it to the Safari. Many animals were out, and the male lion came over the big rock and roared at us repeatedly while our driver stopped the vehicle to let us watch. It was really cool. We were able to do all the rides before lunch, as well as Tough to be a Bug. We ate at Rainforest with one adult voucher and had plenty to eat for the two of us. After lunch we caught the Flights of Wonder show, which we thought was really cool, and then walked the trails. We also went out to Rafiki's Planet watch, but honestly the only reason for going there is the air conditioning. The veterinarian exhibits were cool, but there really wasn't much else there to offer us "adults". During the parade, we rode the Safari two more times and saw different animals each time. A giraffe even came right up to our vehicle and then crossed the road right in front of us. The safari ride is definitely the coolest thing about AK. I also really thought the park did a good job at making the streets, shops, etc. feel African. It definitely has a different flavor from the other parks, and I found this refreshing.
The last thing we did was ride Kali Rapids, and we used a fastpass we had obtained earlier in the day. Our wait was about 10 minutes. The ride is cool, but very short, and I would never wait 45 min or an hour to ride this. We both got wet, but not soaked. I think it's kinda luck who gets real wet on this ride.
We left the park around 5 pm and headed back to SOG. We originally had PS at Boma that night, but my husband really wanted to relax at the hotel, so I cancelled them and we ate and relaxed at the hotel. We needed the rest.
Stay tuned for the conclusion.....
