After lunch at MK, we went to ride Jungle (my husband thought this was stupid, but I had fond memories from riding it as a child) and got a fastpass. We went to the Tree house (which I could have skipped) and then went back to ride Jungle. Then we went by Aloha Isle and got a Dole Whip which was very tasty. By now we were hot and tired, and decided to skip Tom Sawyer's Island and Toon Town, being as we don't have children. We headed over to Philharmonic, and after about a 30 min wait, saw the show. It was very good, and the only 3-D movie on our whole trip that didn't leave children crying.
We returned to the hotel, napped and went to Epcot for that evening. At epcot. we ate counter service (UK) and walked around the world showcase. We returned for an early night to SOG.
The next day was MGM. We drove our own rental car, and arrived about 30 min. before opening. Again, were were the first people in the park. We headed towards Tower, where we waited for the rope drop.
I was very hesitant about riding this ride, and the theming, etc. were great. My husband was also terrified, and we strapped ourselves in. The worst part is not knowing exactly what happens. I mean, I knew it dropped, but I really didn't know anything else. Well, I loved it! We both did. The drops are great, and the details are also great if you can relax enought to notice. We rode this again at night and got, of course, a different experience. This is definitely not for those who don't like thrill type rides, but it is very well done, both in thrill factor and theming.
Next was the Rockin Roller Coaster. This ride was awesome also. The first part is the only "hairy" part, the rest is actually tame compared to other roller coasters. The "cars" are great, the pre-show is entertaining. We rode this 2 more times at night after Fantasmic.
Other things at MGM we did were the Great Movie ride (which I also really liked) , the Indiana Jones show, the Little Mermaid, The Animation Tour. We ate lunch at the Backlot Express. My husband like Indiana Jones. We found this park hard to negotiate. We left around 2 for a hotel break.
At the hotel, we started talking, and decided to see if there were any Fantasmic packages open. There was a 6:40 pm open at Mama Melrose so we took it.
We returned to the park, rode TT, and then headed off to dinner. Mama Melrose's was busy, but were were sat immediately. Our waitress did not come over for around 10 min. I had to go get someone to get our drink orders. The package was like $28 and included salad to share, one appetizer (flatbread only) an entree and a dessert (one each). It did not include tip or any kind of drink. Our service was really bad the entire time. I ordered veal (it came on the bone) and my husband had a sausage and pasta dish. The food was good, but again, too much food for two people, and were were there for 2 hours, (with a complaining husband). So, maybe we hit this place on a bad night, or had a bad server. I will say the food was good.
We got to Fantasmic about 30 min. early and I was dismayed because there were still seats left. In hindsight, we would NOT have done the package. Our seats were good (right section)but there were left section seats still left and those would have been fine with us. It started to rain, and we were really worried it would cancel after having that horrible and expensive dinner, but it went on, and it was great. Very entertaining. I thought it a good combination of lights, music, water, etc. I just wouldnt' do the package again. Also, we were going to see it at 10:30, but opted for the 9 pm time instead (with the package) because we just wanted to get home earlier.
After Fantasmic let out, we rushed to RR and rode it one last time. We walked on and it was great!
stay tuned for more!
