Guardians of the (Epcot) Galaxy

interesting, wonder if that could be part of phase two that has not been greenlighted yet? Would allow them to move quickly on newer IP, and rumors are Imagnation is staying as is for the forseeable future
Yes its staying for now. I would't expect anything there yet.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer, but this all sounds like click-bait (kind of like the ‘story’ from the same soruce about Disney permanently closing the iconic slides at Blizzard beach – which re-opened from repairs days later).

I don’t think anything GOTG is on the horizon for WDW because of Avengers: Infinity War. From what I’ve hear/read, once the GOTG characters are in a film with the licensed-to-Universal-Orlando-Marvel-Characters (Hulk, Spidy), Disney can’t use the GOTG characters in a theme-park east of the Mississippi.

Not true

First off that has been argued ad-naseum at mulitple sites, and no one is absolutely sure. HOwever, per all these reports the GotG is budgeted and green lighted for UoE, I can't believe Disney would do that and not know they could use GotG as they wished.

Are there any attractions that if replaced, there would be a legitimate uproar?

Spaceship Earth comes to mind Imagination is now a close second. I understand both have had various updates (some more drastic than others) but I'm talking "we're removing Figment from the park entirely" or "Spaceship Earth is being gutted and retrofitted as a Good Dinosaur ride" type of changes.

I would get pretty upset if the took out the aquarium in Living Seas, they already re-did the ride with the whole silly nemo theme which I hate but leave the aquarium alone. I would hate to see Living/Listening to the Land taken out. Again, they have already redone the ride when they took away real boat drivers and changed the name, leave it alone I love it. I was sad but not torn up when the changed SS, I liked the whole transportation theme with the guy blowing on his foot and the cop hiding behind the billboard but I've learned to appreciate the communications theme. I agree bring back dreamfinder. No one likes the current Figment concept. I'm all for change and have mostly learned to embrace most of what they are doing, didn't and still don't agree with the Frozen theme in Norway but I'll probably give in and ride the ride at some point.

These sources are members on a forum where they release there info. They don't do blogs for click bait.

The GOTG attraction is said to be an E ticket attraction.

The new and improved Epcot Entrance without the legacy rocks sounds very promising.

Communicore is said to get a major redesign.

I gotta say, EPCOT is my favorite park and I am glad to see some activity there ... still more is needed but really giving Innoventions an update and adding a legit e-ticket attraction is a good start

Just leave all the music they play in and around Future World though

Agreed!

This would be a small but, uh, monumental improvement...

Just a weird little question, is there enough open land between DHS and Epcot to connect the parks through an attraction per say? A rumor I've heard is that Disney wants to hold off on major price increases to park tickets, but instead make the park hopper option almost mandatory to enjoy certain experiences. Pretty much a copy of the Hogwarts Express from Universal.

I can't see that happening at least not yet. You'd have to build essentially a monorail extension which is incredibly expensive. The boat transportation does run between the two parks for park hopping purposes.

Which part: No GOTG in Infinty War or I'm wrong about the licensing?

Sorry, I don't understand this part. Are you referring to the licensing agreement (which pre-dates Disney owning Marvel) or that Disney would build a ride they don't have the IP rights for? If so, I agree, they wouldn't.

Disney owns Marvel. Universal licenses the avengers characters, and spiderman from them. Guardians of the Galaxy is really one of the only Marvel properties that Disney can use in their parks in Florida. Disneyland can use all of the marvel characters really. The full contract between Marvel and Universal is online if you'd like to read it but as far as I know Disney can use Guardians of the Galaxy in the WDW parks.

I'm all for what I'm reading. Epcot is my Disney home (meaning where I was stationed as a CM) and the rumor mill was always going there. Spaceship Earth has been on the block for a completion update for years and it hasn't happened. I would like if they finally took it down to put in the ending scenes that were cut for budget years ago.

It is actually possible to do a lot in Epcot and not make it look like it is. They could get rid of the festival center or move them to the building between Canada and UK for the festivals and redo the Wonders of Life pavilion and not stop anyone from enjoying the park. Same goes for slowly redoing the stuff around Figment and possibly even redoing Figment. I don't see the little dragon going any where as he is a massive money maker but his attraction needs to either be reverted or changed. Listening to Tony Baxter talk about the original you could tell he was pissed that they changed it haha.

Ellen is almost always empty. Even in the crowded summers it is empty. The only time I have seen Ellen have a wait was NYE. So getting ride of it and working in that space isn't going to push too many people into anything else. Same for innoventions. Those buildings are empty most of the day. They could put a dark ride in one of those buildings and have no issues taking everything out of it to do so. I can guarentee you people would even notice.

Well, Maelstrom was often empty, but that didn't stop a vocal minority from voicing their extreme displeasure about it going away...

GotG2 is being released in less than a year and let's face it, this franchise will never have the mass appeal of Avengers, Star Wars, or even Avatar. So they have a very narrow window to capitalize on a spike in interest for a relatively narrow audience. But as discussed, there is no existing ride track that can be re-themed quickly to hit that window. How does all of this add up to a good idea?

What about the old Body Wars?

That vocal minority didn't stop Epcot from changing it though. I didn't say it wouldn't disappoint anyone just that the average guest wouldn't even realize it was down.

Maelstrom is also a little different as at least people saw it was there and actively chose not to do it. Many people don't even know Ellen's Energy is a ride and think it is just a building. It doesn't really call you over to it unless you are seeking it out.
