We are booked on the April 17, 2011 sailing of the Dream. While it is not our first Disney cruise, it is our first time being in GTY status for our cabin. I choose a category 8A because they were bigger than the other oceanview rooms. It is a "Deluxe Family Oceanview" cabin. Sooo...I have 2 questions: First, what do you think the chances of an upgrade are? There aren't that many 8A's on the ship. Also, if they did upgrade us, could I convince them to give us a 4D (the next Deluxe Family Oceanvuew Room, but with a verandah), since I specifically booked this category for the extra square footage??? Thanks for your thoughts! :thumbsup2

It's hard to say since the Dream will be new. Who knows how full it will be. From what I have heard in the past it's luck of the draw. You probably won't get your room number til 30 days out.

As disneylove69 said, it's really tough to tell at this point. Since the Dream will only be a couple of months old, it may sell out more quickly.

We have a small (so far) group of DISers on that cruise so, if you like, you can stop by our meets thread and say hello.

If by some chance the upgrade fairy paid your ressie a visit and upgraded you to a cat. 6a (just an example) you can not 'convince them' to give you another upgrade to a 4D without paying for it.
It sounds like you have less than 5 people booked in the cabin and you went for the 8A for extra space for your convenience not because you have 5 people and need the beds. If you would prefer to not take the chance of being upgraded to a regular verandah room (if upgrades would even be available on your sailing) then have it noted on your ressie to not change the category booked.
