Gty Cat 11

I was wondering if anyone who previously had a "gty cat 11" could tell me when they found out what room was assigned to them. I know that in the literature it says that you are assigned a room upon check-in but wondered if some people perhaps found out earlier and if so how much earlier.

I had a gty 11 but did find out when I got my DOC's I was very lucky and received an upgrade to cat 9. I was warned it does not happen that often so I am very gratful and excited.

The boards!! just reading them on how the upgrades work. not very often. so what the dis members say book what you will be happy in. and be happy if you get an upgrade.
the boards have been a big source of information. I am so glad I ihave been reseaching the boards.

We found out, when we received our documents and got upgraded to a category 10.

I booked an 11 gty for our upcoming cruise. I called starting at the 60 day mark, because I didn't want to wait for my documents. I asked if they assigned the cabin yet, and when they said they had (they couldn't give me the room number or anything because I booked with a TA) I called my TA and she called them and got the cabin number for me. AND we got an upgrade to category 9, which was a $1700 upgrade YEA! I am so excited.
AISLING, when you book a category with an upgrade, you are guaranteed no lower than that category, so what that means is that if that category gets overbooked, the people with the gty status would probably be the 1st ones to be upgraded, but you never can tell. I might have just got lucky I guess.
