Grumpy Challenge 2017.... A Marathon Weekend TR (Updated 3/19 Final Thoughts)

OMG!! Those characters that you skipped in Epcot sound incredible!!! Is that usual for the 5K? I would definitely waited in line for those regardless, probably would have made the 5K longer than the 10K time wise if you had LOL!!! At least you couldn't have gotten swept You said your corral was much further back becasue you were doing Dopey, do you know if RD has a formula for this? Like how many corrals back they move you based off your half time for Dopey? My 10K time for W&D got be in Corral A for that 10K and D for the 1/2 which didn't seem like that unrealistic a difference.

The characters aren't always the same every year but usually they put out characters in some of the countries. Some of the lines were just not worth it to be. RD does have a formula where they tend to move you back a little bit because of the fact you are running four races. Now I was worried about corral placement at first but it ended up being fine.

Well, anyone and I mean anyone can do a Disney 5K. They aren't timed and just a lot of fun. As long as you can walk you can do it. Even if you can't walk they have a wheelchair division. The one thing they don't allow is strollers on course. Character meets are what helps make the races special.

I appreciate your providing the above info on the 5K. I was wondering if Disney allowed walking the entire course. I can't do impact type exercise due to a tibial tendon problem, but of course I walk about 12 miles in the parks each day I'm there, so I could walk the 5K if allowed and if time is not an issue.

Glad to see the recap of the 5K, so I know what to expect in November. I am so glad that DH is doing the half. There is no way that I would do it, but I really want to go to the party afterward Good call on the cupcake Gotta replenish those carbs. I miss Beach Club too. We stayed there for a few days after xmas and really liked it. We will be staying there again in November though. I have AKL and CSR booked for our late July trip, but I need to pick one. I think it depends if Pandora is open yet or not. Either way I haven't stayed at either, and CSR is the last moderate that I haven't stayed at.

Yes 5Ks are untimed except for Dopey runners and completely walkable. Everyone finishes the 5Ks.

That cupcake was so good too! I haven't stayed at either of those places but both seem like good choices. I'll likely be staying value next trip.

I always find the 5K to be a lot of fun.

So I might still be on a runners high but runDisney sent out emails to runners of this years race weekend. The email had a link for early registration for 2018 with $10 off. Well I couldn't resist. I am now signed up for Dopey #2 and will be back for marathon weekend in 2018!

Loved the recap of the 5K ... are those pictures of you from their automated photo system they use? Either way you got some great shots! Love that you get some backstage views with the 5K as well

They don't have an automated photo system they have photopass photographers set up all over the course. They used to use a different company for photos that was quite expensive. I'm so glad they switched to photopass.

ah thanks - maybe I am just (poorly) thinking of how the old system was explained to me ... are the photos from the race then included with a regular memory maker package?

Race photos are included in memory maker yes. It made memory maker so much Loren worth it.

Enjoying the report. I love ToT!!! Of course I love RnRC too. I'm pretty much a fan of just about every ride. I am not a fan of 90 minute waits, though! Yikes!
5K looked like a ton of fun. Tell your Mom she rocks!

I was seriously considering signing up for the Wine & Dine 5K because I'll be there for a work convention. Forgot to put it on my calendar--remembered a couple of hours after it opened for registration, and of course 5K was sold out by then.

Glad the Vans didn't cause you any feet issues for the races! I read that and was worried. I have difficult feet and narrow heels--I can't wear any slip-on shoe--they all slip-off! I do love those Disney Vans and wish I could wear them!

Which resort is your favorite? I know you like Beach Club, but is that your favorite? I want to try some Deluxe resorts one day!
