Grumpy and his wife and possibly the DIS Food Porn Queen are going to Disney

Ok guys, just got off the phone with Kathy and Mark is out of surgery and is in recovery now. She is on her way home to let the doggie out and then going back to the hospital so she may not get on the computer until tomorrow.

She has not been able to see Mark yet but the Dr. said he was cracking jokes with him so that means he is A-OK!

Night all!

Nicki

Good news! :thumbsup2

That is great news Nicki and not one bit surprising given Mark's cheerful and fun loving attitude!

Keep us posted and thanks so much for being the go between!

Thank you so much, Nicki!

What a long day for them - and Kathy waiting and still not seeing him yet. Very glad to hear Mark is his usually funny self.

More hugs and prayer on the way! :grouphug:

First, Nicki, thank you so much for keeping everyone updated for me. You are a great friend and we love you and talking to you on the phone today helped pass the time and not worry quite so much.

To all of you that have continued to send your prayers and thoughts and love--Mark and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I am finally home for the night (I did sneak home while Mark was in recovery to let out the dog but didn't go on the computer). The good news is the surgery went well. He's "achy" and his throat is raspy and he can't swallow...but that is to be expected. His bones are strong and he will only have to wear the collar while out of the house ... for about six weeks. I was getting a little panicky because it was only supposed to take 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours. We went to the cardiologist early this morning and he gave us some "not so good news." And, the longer the surgery took, the more I started to panic (it doesn't help that it was the same hospital my dad died in).

The not so good news is that Mark will have to go in for angioplasty and a stent put in. His front artery is not getting sufficient blood because of a blockage. The doctor said it is not major, but it needs to be done. He already has one stent from his heart attack ten years ago.

I'm going back to the hospital around 10 a.m. and promise I will update again tomorrow.

Thanks again to all of you -- I love my DIS friends.

That is good to hear that he is in recovery. I will pray for him, you, and your family during this process. A Disney trip is just what you'll need once he is feeling nearly back to himself! :)

Kathy, I am so sorry you have a cold, just what you didn't need right now!

I hope the meds work and you get some rest tonight.

Was just thinking about you, Kathy! Sorry to hear things haven't gotten better- here's to wishing that antibiotic will do what it needs to so you can feel 100% for Marc tomorrow! :wizard:

Ditto! :thumbsup2 I hope you are feeling better, too! Summer colds are absolutely the worst. All you can do is endure it!

Keep us posted!!!!!

Thinking of Mark this morning and praying for him and all those who will care for him today. Kathy, hope you are beginning to feel better this morning. Holding you both near in heart and prayer. :grouphug:

It is good news! I'm not happy about the angioplasty, but I'm glad they found it and we'll get it taken care of.

Thanks, Liesa. I got a good night's sleep for a change; now if I could just get rid of this damn cold.

I'm so glad everything went well with Mark's surgery! I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Thank you; most people have to wear the collar anywhere from two to six months; Mark only had to do it for six weeks. The doctor said his bones were real strong so he only has to do it for the six. :)

That is great news that Mark's surgery went well! I hope he recovers quickly. :goodvibes

Thanks, Brooke. I can now breathe easier (well, except for this darn cold).

I'm on my way to the hospital after I walk the dog and hope to have Mark home by early afternoon. I'll update when I'm home with him.

Kathy, just read your post - SO happy and grateful all went well with Mark's surgery. Although the angioplasty is not the best news, very glad they found it early and it can be taken care of - sending you both gentle hugs.

Welcome home, Mark!!! We love you both! :grouphug:

Thank god, everything went well!! Keeping my fingers crossed for both of you for a speedy recovery without any more complications!!!

Sorry, I couldn't be here earlier today Kathy, but we had a lightning strike our house today and we were out of power and one of the TVs said goodbye forever! Had to jump in for Tom as he had to go to work and did not have time to go online! SORRYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, Nicki, for giving us the "inside scoop" while Kathy was at the hospital! You are a great friend!

Please keep us posted when you have time!!

Love from your Austrian friends,
Karin and Tom
