Grrrr!! how do you get a real live human being?

I'm usually very quiet when I'm on hold that I always have the person asking me "are you still there?" Or when they're listing off a whole bunch of stuff. I guess they're used to people yelling at them when they have to tell you the terms of what you're doing. But I try to be polite as possible.

The bank on the other hand has gotten the nasty side of me. Usually because they're pulling hundreds out of my account for NSF fees. And then they either give it all back or at least half of it.
 
I just say "representative" and that usually connects me to a real person...
I just tried that last week with Hartford. Didn't work. When I finally got some one on the line, after calling a phone number that was supposed to be for financial representatives only, the rep who helped me said their magic word was "specialist". Grrrrrrrrrrrr . . .
 

a few months back, Reader's Digest has a whole article about this. (wish I could remember which month it was, but maybe their web site has it. you could put it in the "search" window. (yeah, I know, I'm a lot of help!)

besides hitting "0" the other thing I DO remember is: try choosing the Spanish, not English option. there are less operatiors and you will get through to a live person sooner, and mostor the operators for the spanish option also speak english.(bilingual)
 
Press 00 to go straight to a live operator. Trust me. :thumbsup2
 
OP, I am with you. I am on hold for 15:14 and counting to cancel my son's same-day sick appointment. His fever just broke, and his throat no longer hurts. I feel bad knowing there is a parent out there with a sick child, who could take our time slot (1 hour away now), but can't because I CAN'T GET IT CANCELED!
