Grrr....I see what you did there, Disney

I guess you feel Disney can not give...they can ONLY take away. OK.

What you are not getting is that the parties add to the overall hours the Magic Kingdom is open. Before they ran the parties MK closed earlier anyway. So you are not loosing anything, you are gaining the opportunity to buy a party ticket and enjoy extra hours in the Magic Kingdom if you so choose. Nothing was taken away. An opportunity was added. You may not like the parties, and that is fine. But park hours are not being taken away.

Hmmm, nope never said that? When? I did not mention fireworks and parades. Someone else mentioned the fireworks and parades and I responded to them.

I simply said I do not like the
number of parties...I am fairly sure I can have that opinion which clearly is making you agitated.

I will say what I think is for the 3rd or 4th time that I had a very enjoyable trip. I do not
like the fact that 5 of the 7 days I was there I was in a bit of a catch 22. Spend the money on a party I do not enjoy so that I have a full day at MK, go on non-party night and contend with huge crowds (yup, I did it back in 2013 and the non-party days was very unenjoyable due to the huge crowds) or go on a party night and leave to go to down town disney.

We do not park hop normally. We
would only want it for a party night at MK and we wanted to go to another park later. I have never said Disney would do it... I think it would be nice if they did given it is not the best situation for people who do not like parties.

So you are saying go at another
time of the year? I guess I could. I like the weather this time of year and most likely will not change that. I am fairly sure I can still not like the number of the parties and the impact it has on our vacation and still continue to go to Disney in the fall season which my family has since 1975 if that is Ok with you?????

I guess you feel Disney can not give...they can ONLY take away. OK.
How can you tell someone is agitated by a simple post??? And you did say there was no way you would go to MK on that nonparty day, therefore you did miss the parade and fireworks. The whole point of a park hopper option is WANTING the option to go to another park. That's why people buy it. You don't get things for for free just because you want them. You buy them because you want them or you do without.

I agree with those who said you can get lot done on a day with a party, despite needing to leave at 7. In fact, our morning on a party day was one of the least crowded days we've ever seen MK. I intentionally book it that way now, especially since I have a young child who can't last all day anyway. Then we usually go to Ohana for dinner and watch the party fireworks from the beach there.

This....Disney has taken things away, this just is not one of them. You would never had the opportunity to enjoy the vacation you describe because without the parties the park would not be open anyway. Even today if they dropped all the parties the attendance is still not at levels during that time of year to sustain a large increase in operational hours.

And, you can get an enormous amount of attractions in on a party day. More than you can get on most days with later operating hours. I understand your frustration but you are venting against something that never was taken away.

Absolutely. MK is insanely crowded on those days between party nights.

We like going to MK and spending the entire day and night there. We were not able to do that even one day while on our November or October trip because the prospect of going to MK on one of the very few non-party nights was just not fun. So Disney essentially kicks a lot of people out of the park and sells that time to someone else.
!

This is the quote I was referring to. You were ABLE to go, but you CHOSE not to go.

You know the deal when you choose to visit Disney during party season. Either go then or choose anther time of year.

Agreed. However, parties are Sept-Dec. a full third of the year. I wouldn't necessarily call that a season.

As the OP just thought I'd mention that we're going to do MK once on a party day and once on a "regular" day and take advantage of all the sights-sounds-flavors of Disney. And we're going to have a blast! : )

This is the quote I was referring to. You were ABLE to go, but you CHOSE not to go.

Ok, but I was not referring to a parade or fireworks. You were specifically saying I was complaining about not being able to enjoy the fireworks and parade, so that confused me and you were incorrect. Making what I said RED does not change the meaning. I never doubted that you said I was making a choice? I would at least like it if I did not have to argue something I never said and you continue to tell me that statement means what you think it does? I would have thought you would have just said sorry I made a mistake..you never mentioned the parade or fireworks?

I am not the only person who feels this way. I have stated my opinion several times. I do not see the point in continuing this or having to respond to things I never said...and then for you to now infer things I am saying.

I think it is a pain to have to plan around parties. Again, there is nothing anyone can say that will change our experience. I will continue to go during that this time of year because the benefits outweigh other times of year for us. I will continue to think there are too many parties. Like I said I had a Very enjoyable trip besides that aspect. If you need to tell me I have no right to feel that way I have absolutely nothing more to say.

There were parties on like 4 or 5 of the 6 nights we visited last October. We were able to get as much as we wanted done at MK (thanks FP+ arrival day + RD another), except Wishes & MSEP. We had other plans we couldn't schedule around so we had to miss the 2 PM shows.

Since last time was DW's first time we did a LOT of different things; now that we know what we like we can pare back, and maybe get a party ticket and lounge at the resort in the morning. I believe you can enter starting at like 4pm, so sleeping in + some pool time & lunch, then travel = 4pm.

What annoyed me more was that Epcot F&WF kiosks closed during PM EMH...checking out the kiosks was the only reason we were there so late! We just went to the Boardwalk and got pizza.

It is still the slowest time of year, and the parties only take place on select nights, and not during heavy crowd weeks like Thanksgiving or Christmas. If I had my choice between MK closing early 6 nights a week with no parties (like it did years ago), or closing early 4 times a week with later hours on nonparty nights and the opportunity to go to a party, I would pick the latter.

No one is telling anyone they shouldn't feel that there are too many parties. We are simply saying it is unreasonable to think that Disney owes anyone something for free when they make these dates clear months in advance. You get what you pay for. If you pay for a vacation during party season, you get the hours that are offered, and multiple options are available to you to do what you want to do.

The parties cover the same time of year that hours were typically shorter. MK used to close at 6 or 7 other than on Sat. nights during the Sept-Feb. time frame.

Absolutely. MK is insanely crowded on those days between party nights.

Like I said we had parties November the 13th, 14, 16th, 17th. There was no way we were going to MK on the 15th! So we did several early nights at MK.

For people who say that you can do a dining reservation and be escorted out of MK after. I would say that it is not the best thing to do if you have young kids. It is not fun to come out of your restaurant and be escorted up main street and your son or daughter sees the festivities and you are deposited at the exit.

We have a couple choices.
-We have to go the party when we do not want to
-settle on going to MK on nights of a party and leave early
-go to MK on non party nights and deal with terrible crowds
-or purchase park hopper and hop to another park that will be crowded due to all the people leaving MK early.

We like going to MK and spending the entire day and night there. We were not able to do that even one day while on our November or October trip because the prospect of going to MK on one of the very few non-party nights was just not fun. I think they should at the very least offer a free park hopper on nights of the party automatically if you went to MK during that day of a party. That would be easy and fair. Still not sure I would want to hop to a very crowded park but at least it would be an option for people who normally do not purchase park hopper.

It is not the end of the world, we have enjoyed our trips. It is a real huge pain though!

No. Just no. Disney makes the park hopper option available to anyone who wants to purchase it. Zero reason for them to offer it free. The parties have been going on for years. They're not new and they're not a surprise.

Except the first four MNSSHP nights, every single party is scheduled during the Autumn season - September 23 to December 22.
They are including the Christmas parties. But again,it does not matter as this whole time period used to be much earlier closings at MK. Typically, MK closed at 6 or 7 every night except Sat during the entire off season that included Sept-Feb.

The Christmas parties were included in those dates above. The last Christmas party is Dec 18.

Okay, this year there are 25 MNSSHPs scheduled across 48 nights, and 20 MVMCP over 45 nights. Only rarely are there parties on consecutive nights. A lot, but not too many as far as I'm concerned - and since they're apparently profitable, most stockholders would likely agree.

There are feelings that are wrong but your feeling that there are too many parties isn't among them - sorry, but I'm watching Law & Order: SVU right now.

FWIW, this isn't Disney trying to stick it to the non-party goers. Universal goes through the same thing during Halloween Horror Nights, and it might even be worse for their non-party going guests. Most of the week there, Universal closes at 5pm and they aggressively usher people out of the park before allowing HHN guests in. They actually give themselves a good hour to clear the park out. People who go during that time go with the intention of going to HHN, or the understanding that they will have to deal with an early Uni close and a crowded IOA. WDW should be no different.
