I just got confirmation from my sales coord. Apparently this is effective for people who are booking after October.

That is probably not good for Randy at all :sad2:
Lindsay, do you know if you can still bring an outside photog to a dessert party?

In my opinion this is going to bite Disney in the butt. Their photography packages are just not competitive and there are so many perks to using an outside vendor.

We are even looking into outside florist now just because of all the bad reviews I have heard.

I will email my Sales coordinator and see what she says.

Sorry, but I have to say it... this freaking sucks!!

After checking out the Roots from lurkyloo's PJ and TR my mom and I fell in L-O-V-E with their style. And now they won't let outside photogs come in?! Horsefeathers!! I guess I have to rethink things again and talk with the DF about the location. Ohh... I'm so disappointed!:headache:

My WC should call today (I hope) so maybe I should ask...

Well, in the past they did charge an escort fee for outside photographers, but then stopped doing that about a year ago. It doesn't surprise me that they are nixing this as hardly anyone has been using DPS. I would say before everyone gets too upset, check with DFTW and see if they are changing the photo packages, prices, etc...

You CAN make a request for a certain photographer, and they will try to honor that request, but they won't guarantee it. Perhaps they are revamping things with DPS to allow for more options and customization :confused3 we can hope.

It is going to be a shame if you truely CAN'T have any say, even if it is DPS. Hum......This could get interesting !

but if i book it now for sept 2009, shouldnt i get what they offernow?? this blows. im so pissed. looks like seabreeze is my new wedding place :headache: and no phtos of the dessert party...:furious: :furious:

i'm really sorry you need to change your locations. don't forget though you will have plenty of friends and family taking pics at the dessert party so you will still have some. :confused3

Thats rue, but the whole point of the dessert party was to get proffesional pics with the illuminations.. thats the whole damn point of this dftw..fireworks lol

Yes Amanda, it does prob stink for Randy, that was the first thing DF said... I did confirm this with my sales coordinator and he said that it was effective October.... I think it's a no go for dessert parties too, but I didn't ask.... Who knows, maybe Disney is going to make sure that their photography is better.... :confused3

I have just discussed this with DF and we have decided that we should not get too worried and see what happens. I'm sure that we will all still have a magical day!

From experience these decisions are normally made at the top, so we should not get annoyed with the coordinators or planners. They are just passing the message along.

I'm sure that we will have more news in the coming days.

Oh dear I have that sinking feeling in my stomach now :guilty:

I've just sent an email to my coordinator so hopefully she will reply to me soon to confirm.

I wonder because we will be booking our date next week that it will mean we tie in the contract now before any changes are made for next October?

LINZ

I just got off the phone with my WC and I had specifically asked her this question. She said that they are implementing this change, however it doesn't go into effect until Oct 1 2009. She told me that since I was booking for Sept 2009 that I was still good to go on outside photogs! YAY! My ceremony is set to be in Epcot as well. I think you should ask your coordinator again if you're booked for Sept 2009- I think they're trying to hose you.

Here's the scoop, straight from the horse's mouth, as it were...

This new rule applies to all weddings BOOKED after Oct. 1, 2008 (not weddings that occur after Oct. 1, 2009).

So if you book Sept. 30, 2008 for Sept. 30, 2009, you fall under the old rule. If you book Oct. 1, 2008 for, say, June 1, 2009, you fall under the new rule.

It applies to all in-park events, including dessert parties, rehearsal dinners, etc. This was not previously a DFTW rule, but it has been a rule throughout the Walt Disney Co.'s theme parks division since the (Two) Year(s) of a Million Dreams promotion began winding down.

The new rule came down from the very tippy top of the Walt Disney Co.'s corporate structure (well, OK, maybe not Bob Iger level :rotfl: ) so that Disney can better control the images of the theme parks, characters and classic Disney icons (e.g., Cinderella Castle, Spaceship Earth). Which means the change was not made by DFTW to make in-park weddings less popular with couples or to boost flagging interest in using Disney Photographic Services.

If having an outside photog at your in-park wedding is important to you and you can contract before Oct. 1, 2008, sign that baby as soon as you can. :thumbsup2

:sad2: This is awful! I am definately not getting married until late 2010 or 2011 so I will be under the new rules :sad1:

Can you have a disney photographer just for a dessert party and if not, are there any other locations off-site where you can get good firework pictures?

Thanks Lurky for the info. while i am a little disappointed about not getting Randy. I feel it will still be a fabulous day and in the end everything will work out just fine. I figured it had something to do with Disney 'landmarks' and characters. in the meantime... if anybody can reccommend any Disney photogs it would be greatly appreciated! (Lynn I got your reccommendation down already!!:thumbsup2 )

DPS has a newish DP photo package: $350 for 2 hours, all photos on disc.

You can also see Wishes fireworks from the Grand Floridian Marina, the Poly Beach, and the catwalk at the the California Grill at the Contemporary (if you're not having your reception there, you'd just have to treat your photog to dinner there so he/she can come up with you!)

well if i sign my contract for epcot ceremoney and dessert party in sept 2008, i should be ok..right? i'm booking attic for our reception... although i do like living seas.. its just a lot more then the attic... this so blows chunks... gonna makeme get all bridezilla!!

Aw, that's very disappointing. Here's hoping this rule isn't enforced or is changed in the coming months/year!

I wonder how they'd treat guests who are avid photographers with professional SLR cameras? They may think they are outside photographers posing as guests!

hmm.. i may be able to swing $350.00 for just the 30 mins during ceremony and the 90 mins during dessert.. they do split the 2 hours up to how you like right??
