Just wondering how wet you get on this ride, I want to ride it but don't want to be soaked or have to bring a change of clothes :)

There's a potential to get soaked. I wear a poncho. Might also be worth exchanging your socks and sneakers for flip flops before you ride it.

This. You will get wet. You might get soaked to the skin.

The whole fun of it is getting wet!

Luckily it's a pretty dry climate so you'll be dry after a little while of walking around in the sun. The only part that persists is soggy socks, so I agree with the flip flop suggestion.

We were so soaked we had to change clothes from the skin out. So glad we were staying at the Grand Californian so dry clothes were 5 mins away. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if the experience changes during the year? I thought they altered the pressure down in the colder months but do you still get soaked in December or January?

We went last January and my cousin and I and another person got drenched. We had to go back and change. My husband and other cousin as well as 1 other ride barely got wet. HTH

Just went in August. My inlaws went on and never got wet at all. I went on about 20 minutes later and was soaked to the skin. You never know, that is half the fun!!!

Every time I have gone on GRR, I end up soaked. The solution I found was to take a ride or two on Ca. Screaming which almost completely dried my clothes.

Shoes were a different problem. They were soaked, and I ended up with blisters from the friction.

They do vary it. When it's been colder, I noticed that they don't have water dripping on you at the start or have the geyser operating at the end. I've heard that they also manipulate the water level to reduce the size of the splash.
That being said, there is always the possibilty of getting soaked.

I think there's a sign somewhere in the queue: "You will get wet. You may get soaked." Believe it.

As a PP said, we put all of our backpacks etc. in a plastic bag brought for this purpose. We usually also bring footwear that can get wet and change shoes. Some times we bring ponchos. If we're staying at the DVC in the Grand Californian, we just go back to the room to change clothes. If it is warm enough I've gone over to the Silly Symphony Swings to "spin dry."

If you don't get wet (or soaked) you are lucky.

My daughter is a particularly unlucky bug and has gotten completely drowned every time she rides it.

Oh I get soaked...to the skin, through all my clothes almost every time I ride GRR!!! Poncho & flip flops for me every time please! :)

The place that really gets you is the geyser at the end. The ride is essentially done at this point and you think you're heading back to the station. The guyser goes off at random intervals so not everyone will get soaked if it doens't go off. There is a viewing platform that you can watch the geyser section from. It's actually quite fun! We always enjoy watching the people get drenched. If you don't want to get wet, you can still thoroughly enjoy the ride from the viewing area.

I heard a rumor that you can put coins into something from the bridge area to set the geyser off. I couldn't find anything like that when we were there, but wondered if anyone else knows about it?

This ride is bad luck for my DH , lol. He ALWAYS seems to be in the "perfect" spot to get drenched no matter what. In June this was no exception and while all of us got wet for sure , it's part of the fun. Ironically , Splash Mountain for us was WORSE - which is a first.

Using plastic bags - note CLEAR plastic bags not the Disney printed bags are a lifesaver. My friends thought they would be smart and stuff all their things in the Disney parks printed bags and walked off the ride with a rainbow of colors all over their skin from the "bleeding" of the bag. Word of caution :P
