DH and I have one night out with the kids. We were thinking about eating somewhere at Epcot and catching Illum, but now I just discovered MGM is open until 8:30 that night.

Is Brown Derby the only "grown up" restaurant at MGM? Also, if the park is open until 8:30, I wonder what would be the latest PS you could get. Any thoughts? (I assume you can't catch a glimse of Fantasmic from any restaurants?)

Mama Melrose is also full-service, but my experience is that that service is awfully bad.

DH and I ate at Mama Melrose's 3 times and never had a problem. We love the food and atmosphere.

We had excellent Italian food and great service at Mama Melroses. I loved their risotto and tiramesu and the smell of the wood stove reminded me of when I lived in Italy - just wonderful!

The atmosphere at the Sci Fi Diner is nice but the food wasn't anything extra special along with the service. But that was our experience there and might have just been a fluke.

Mama Merose is one of our favorite restaurants. We've never had a problem with the service there. And as rae said, the food is delicious.

I would eat at EPCOT. One night we were seated at Le Cellier between 8:30 and 9:00 and when Illuminations started our server encouraged us to go out and watch it. :)

I would highly recommend the Brown Derby for a romantic meal without the little ones. The food is fantastic and the service is even better.

I would also vote on a late dining at Epcot when the illumination is on.

Brown Derby is also good but it is just a restaurant......

If you take the boat, you can dine not only at Epcot but also at any of the Epcot resorts, giving you even more choices: Flying Fish, Spoodles, Shula's, Palio, Yachtsman Steakhouse are all good "grownup" restaurants.

You can even walk one way (or both ways) if the weather isn't too bad. It's usually quicker than the boat, and it's really not that far. Boardwalk is about 3/4 of a mile from MGM entrance.

We ate at Mama Melrose's in early Dec and it was fabulous! The service was great and the food was fantastic!
