I am really, really tired of my bangs!! How do I grow them out? The rest of my hair is longer than shoulder length. I asked my beautician this question last time I had a trim and she looked at me like I had 3 eyes. I just don't want them any more!!

My dd is growing out her bangs and what I do for her is put her bangs in a barrett about an inch from her hair line. An example of this is how Carrie would wear her hair on Sex in the City. With the sides all down, very cute and hip. Can be done for young or old.

I'm liking the barrett idea. That could work.

See this is why I asked my beautician hoping for a different hairstyle ideas or tips like this. I guess I'll just come to you guys for this stuff from now on!!

The barrett will would and when they get to a certain point you can have layers put in to blend them in.

I spent over a year growing my bangs out- was so annoying. Once they were out - I hated how I looked and got them back. I wish I would have realized it sooner. Good luck!

I am going thru the same thing now. I started to grow them out and told my hairdresser I was doing so when I went to go get my hair cut and sure enough she started to cut them so they came out all messed up. So now I tried to grow them out again and they look horrible. I keep trying to cut them myself to go on an angel and its just not working. I really need to go back to the hairdresser and figure something out. I am just hating my hair lately.

that's where I'm at now. I haven't spent a year growing them out, but they are almost gone...they are definitely to the point that I can't just wear them as bangs, they are about to my nose. Anyway, just had my license picture taken and it made me realize I'm not so sure I am one of those people who should go without bangs.

Hair spray, gels, whatever it takes to get them to stay back or off to the side. I grew mine out last year after having them since HS. Now I can't imagine why I waited so long, my hair is so much easier to deal with.

I used to think I should always wear bangs, but now I love not having them. It took me a little while to get used to it, and I had to re-learn what hairstyles worked because all the ways I was doing my hair were the same as when I had bangs, and it just doesn't work like that. I finally found a hairstylist who had a lot of great ideas about styling hair without bangs, and she gave me several great cuts that worked beautifully. I think it's easier to style my hair now, and I don't have to get it trimmed as often.

A GOOD haircut makes all the difference when you're growing out your bangs AND when you no longer have them. And I agree - headbands and barettes are your friends! :)
