Hey All!
So excited that my dad wants to take us all on a cruise. Not so excited that I have been assigned to plan it all.
With a group of 16 and the need for 4-5 rooms, should I get a travel expert, call Disney directly? I have done this for my little family of three. For 16 people I am a bit out of my depth.

Cheers!

Personally I would let a TA handle it. That is what we did when we took the family (15) in 5 cabins. It's going to take some time since they need all the names, ages addresses phone numbers (physical and email for the main guest) Collect it all group them in an email and send it off.

Thanks! You’re so right. That makes sense. I hope the TA gets a good percentage. We are not gonna be an easy group 😉

You know better how much time you have and if you would be stressed out. But personally I handle our group of 10 regularly. Of course I do booking and dinning. Their excursions and activities are up to them. Planning is a big part of the fun. I wouldn't want to give all that fun anticipation up to a TA.

We use a TA and I especially appreciate him when we are a group of 12 across 4 rooms.

Ha, you sound like a kindred spirit - the planning is half the fun for me 😆 when we did our first big friend group trip to Disney, I was so happy when everyone gave over full planning responsibility to me! I say every travel group needs one person like that (type-A planner) - they get to enjoy planning everything, and everyone else gets to just show up and enjoy vacation.

Our travel agent really earned her commission on our extended-family cruises. Our largest group was 47. DH was our liaison and his job was to find a week where everyone was available, and our travel agent found rooms on the DCL Magic -- coincidentally, the only week the whole summer that the ship had enough space. gma was in her 80's and the youngest great-grand kids were babies in arms. gma needed a handicap room, and several babies needed port-a-cribs. The TA linked our reservations together so we could have dinner at adjoining tables every night and tell each other what we'd been up to each day. Before the cruise I printed out cards of who was in which stateroom. With a group that size we were allowed to reserve a time with the photographer for family pics on the grand stair case.

Personally, I'm too much of a control freak to use a TA. We did one with 15 (had to cancel due to COVID). Its honestly doable. Figure out if you're trying to get adjoining rooms, same floor, etc. Like what type of room do you all want/need and go from there. Each room will be its own reservation but you can link them so you can do dinning together and such.

That is totally me too! I have my notebook all set and ready.
