Hi everyone!

I run an after-school program and am starting to think about setting up for the school year. The way I structure my program is by splitting the kids into groups based on age, so (depending on numbers) there's a group of (by grade) K&1, 2&3, 4&5, 6+

Instead of calling them Groups A, B, C, D, & E or 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5, I want to give them some fun names! Last year, the program I worked at called her four groups flounders, guppies, sharks and dolphins.

I'm trying to think of the names for this year, and thought it might be fun to do Disney themed names! I figured this is the best place to go for ideas!

So, hit me with your best shot!!

Maybe after some of the rides?

Grade 6 plus would have to be the ToT ;)

One year, US Figure Skating's Program Components Camp used names based on decades, with the kids skating to songs from those decades. Maybe you could select either the #1 song of the year, or top artist of the year as the group name.

I just did some googling and saw a camp that did parts of MK.

ToonTown
Fantasy Land
Tomorrow Land
Frontier Land
Adventure Lane

Different fish - guppies, goldfish, Sharks, barracuda. Probably wouldn't use Crappie.

I know-most on this board associate the name 'flounder' with the movie 'little mermaid' but as far as I'm concerned NO GROUP should be named it b/c it means to struggle helplessly (not something I would want to either be or have my child identified with). as far as 'crappie' goes...........that speaks for itself.

how about going with the names of the Disney cruise ships-

dream, magic, fantasy and wonder?

To me, Flounder will always be a freshman pledge to the Delta House :)

It's not Disney, but you could do Legends of the Hidden Temple. Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots, Silver Snakes.

Those are actually the groups we use for summer camp! Haha.

Ah, yeah that theme tends to be quite popular nowadays. You could name the groups off of the fraternities from Monsters University.

I like the idea of names that apply to the ages and hierarchy of the groups.
like from:
k-1 Little prince and princesses
to
6+ Lion Kings and Queens (like the Lion King growing into his teen years towards young adulthood)

Maybe Beauties and the Beasts...

Or, group names, like The Seven Dwarfs????
(don't like the dwarf reference, but just brainstorming here, would work with a group of 7)

I think it sounds neat to be able to address each group in a way that sounds like
"Okay, all my Little Prince and Princesses, we need you to come over here..."

It occurred to me today that, living in Boston, one of the most educated cities in America, I ought to name my groups after local universities! So I think my groups will probably be the:

Harvard Crimsons
MIT Beavers
Boston University Terriers
Boston College Eagles
Northeastern Huskies
Simmons Sharks

Nickelodeon is making a TV movie based on the game.

the Seven Dwarve's names?

But you could go with Pokemon characters given the popularity of the game these days
