Group Dining Reservation Change

For years I've called Group Dining when we had large groups and just found out yesterday that you now have to call each restaurant directly! I was over at a friend's house to make plans for our October trip. We could have anywhere from 10 to 26 people at various breakfasts and/or dinners.

We tried the group dining number first and that is now something else. Since we are DVC members, we called member services thinking they would just transfer us over to group dining. Nope, they were the first to tell us that you have to call the restaurants directly. So we tried the 407-WDW-DINE number and were told the same thing about calling the restaurants directly.

So we spent some time calling each restaurant and, of course, since it's the Holiday weekend never getting anyone. We left a message at each place and so far have only heard back from one - Sanaa. One ressie down - a lot more to go.

What is Disney thinking?! Anyone else discover this?

This is the 3rd year in a row I've made reservations for 18-20 people and it seems the only thing to be constant is the fact that they change the procedure every time I call. This year I was able to make reservations for 18 thru the regular 939-DINE # at Captains Grille, Biergarten, 9 Dragons, & O'hana. I was told this time, that depending on the number of people & the restaurant itself would be what determined whether you need to call the restaurant or not.

I'm sure this wasn't too helpful, but it really seems to be an ever changing policy. We tried for 3 weeks to get someone from Boatwrights to call us back & they never did. Finally, one of the people was actually at WDW & went to the podium and did it there. We never did find out why they never called us back.

Last year I had to speak directly to Chef De France & Teppan Edo directly.
