Groundhog Day at Walt Disney World - New 5/2 - pg. 20 - 3 Updates/new PTR link

Great updates Amy, I am so glad Alex was able to bounce back and you all had a great time at HS!! SciFi looks like a lot of fun, we have yet to try that one, I think the kids would get a kick out of sitting in "cars"! Thanks for the pics of the new line activities for the Pooh ride! I had heard they had done some new things but I couldn't really picture it, now I have a great idea!!:goodvibes The boys look so cute smushed in the stroller together too! Looking forward to hearing more!!!:thumbsup2

So glad Alex seems to be turning a corner with the cough, yuck on the throwing up though. Deirdre has had that before, too much post nasal drip.

The McDs at DTD closed, that is where they put that Pollo Campero. I think there is another big one with a playland just don't remember where.

How do your boys do with the noise on RnR? That is the one thing that Daniel can't tolerate so he usually skips it.

Hmmm, wonder what you'll do tomorrow.......

I blame the McDonalds incident on the GPS - it sent us to DTD!

Noise doesn't really bother Alex, but Zach isn't a big fan of how loud it is on RnRC. He would like to have his headphones but a) we might lose them and b) someone might get hit in the head by them when they go flying! :scared1: But he loves the ride enough to go on it and tolerate the noise.

So sorry to hear about Alex and his tummy issues. It's never fun to throw up and especially not on vacation!

Glad to see the boys liked Sci Fi. My boys did too. We haven't been back since 2007, but they still talk about the movie clips!

Fudge and wine...what a nice way to end the day!

What's next?? popcorn::

Alex has a pretty sensitive tummy & throws up easily so luckily it wasn't a big deal to him. He was just upset that we had to go back to the condo!

I wish I had some Disney fudge right now! :lovestruc

Poor Alex not feeling so good. Good thing you had the plastic bag! So glad he felt better by mid day. Sounds like you made the most of your time at DHS. You got to ride RNRC 3 times & other things so that's good!!:thumbsup2

Probably a great idea to head back to the condo & get some rest.

Yay for some fudge & wine. Both sound great to me.

It was very lucky that we had the plastic bag handy! That could have been a mess! :scared1:

I'm glad that Alex didn't stay sick very long and that you were able to make it to HS. I cracked up at the sight of the two of them in that stroller. When my boys were that age they still sat in my jogging stroller from time to time (and I would actually run with them). Talk about a work out. It was sad when I realized that the two of them would no longer fit.

Glad you like Sci-Fi. I think you had a great day. :thumbsup2 to fudge and wine. I would pick that any day over grease!

There were a few places where we had to push the stroller up hill... that wasn't fun! Funny stroller story coming up in my next update... :rolleyes1

Sci Fi was a lot of fun!! The cars really make the meal! :thumbsup2 The interactive parts of the new Pooh queue are a lot of fun!! We've always fastpassed Pooh but this year we made a point of going through the stand-by line.

Poor Alex throwing up and not feeling well. I am glad he felt better later in the morning so you could enjoy your lunch at Sci-Fi and ride some rides! :thumbsup2

I think he had finally turned the corner!

Bummer about Alex. Being sick at Disney World is the worst! Glad he was feeling better and you got to enjoy your day though!

I loved the Beef and Blue Salad at Sci Fi!! Going back for it on our next trip! :thumbsup2

Alex's cold really took a toll on all of us - it definitely effected his behavior too.

That beef & blue was good! :thumbsup2

Whew...on still having a great DHS day...had me nervous there reading that...hope he stays healthy rest of the trip :goodvibes

glad you all enjoyed Sci Fi too (maybe you should eat in the dark more often...Miss food inspector ;)) the salad sounded good, something different.

and :cool1: COWBOY! nice, that would top my Studios day...looking forward to more

Oh and I love eating cereal for dinner...

I'm so happy that Alex got over his tummy issues early in the day! When I went to Disney back in 06 with my family, my brother woke up throwing up and after some more rest he made it out with us for the rest of the day and by the end of the evening he was back to normal. :confused3 He did get sick after riding EE, however.

I love the picture of Zach and you at Sci-Fi, especially the one where he's looking at you and not the camera. You can tell how much he adores his Mommy!

That stinks about the rough morning. But glad things started to look up after that, despite your late start, sounds like a great DHS day.

Jack is so much like Alex it seems, both with regard to the stomach and throwing up thing and with the first time round he just tolerates it and then wants to do it again. That about sums up our whole trip :lmao:

I love a good bowl of cereal for dinner, followed by some fudge, sounds like a great way to end the day.

Hoping the next day continues on it's way up...

oh so what were the boys thoughts on the food at Sci Fi? I'm thinking that would be fun for our next trip since we are probably going to steer clear of character meals.

looking forward to your RnR picture

Hi Amy! I've been MIA from the Dis for a long while so have lots of catching up to do. :) Looks like a great TR so far!

Yes I think I need to eat in the dark more often!

For some reason we seem to see the cowboy as much as, or more than the gangster! :confused3

Zach is definitely a mama's boy. :lovestruc Luckily Alex's tummy issues didn't come back!

Alex has such a sensitive stomach - he used to throw up all the time.

I remember pizza & burgers on the kids menu. I know there definitely wasn't any chicken... ;) Alex liked the burger - Zach didn't like the pizza. I think it was the standard kids pizza so depending if your boys like the pizza or not it may be fine.

Hi Amy! I've been MIA from the Dis for a long while so have lots of catching up to do. :) Looks like a great TR so far!

Hi Kelli!! :welcome: I'm so glad you found me!! I hope your October trip works out!! pixiedust:

This morning (Thursday 3/3) was our free morning so we woke up not really sure what we’d do. Alex was feeling better today and the boys wanted to go to Animal Kingdom! So Animal Kingdom is where we went!

We were scheduled to be back at AK the next morning (Friday) so really we were just pushing our “free” morning back a day. We arrived just after rope drop & walked to the gates only to discover Tim had left Alex’s GAC in the car. We could have just gotten another one, but he decided to run back and get it. I took the boys and we got through bag check & picked up a stroller just as Tim caught up with us. We hadn't taken any AK photopass pictures yet so we stopped in front of the tree of life:

We headed right to EE only to find it closed. We hung out for a bit but with EE still closed we decided to split up. A couple “hanging out” photos:

I’m usually the one who gets to go off on fun adventures with Zach while Tim goes on the same rides over and over with Alex so I decided to send Tim & Zach off to catch the train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch… is that even what it’s still called? We went out there the first time we visited Animal Kingdom back when Alex was a baby and haven’t been back since. I thought Zach would enjoy it… and he did! I sent the camera with Tim, not expecting him to actually take any pictures… but he did!

While they were gone, Alex & I went over to Dinoland and rode Dinosaur, not once, not twice, but three times! During our second or third ride I spotted a little girl with an adorable dress on. It looked like the kind of dress I’d see here on the DIS and the next thing I spotted was a Mickey Head hanging from her mom’s bag. I tapped her on the shoulder, showed her my Mickey Head and said hello. Turns out she is the one who designed this particular Mickey Head (lime green mickey head with little yellow flowers around the edges - perfect for spring!) and posted it on the March 2011 thread! Her name was Colleen27. It was fun to have an impromptu DISmeet in line at Dinosaur! After a THIRD ride on Dinosaur my LINES app indicated that EE was open so that’s where we headed next. I texted Tim to let him know our plan. Alex & I rode EE twice while we waited for Tim & Zach to return… but they still weren’t back so Alex asked to ride Dinosaur AGAIN! I’m not sure why, but I said yes, so we headed back to Dinoland for a fourth ride! Tim texted they were back so Alex & I headed back to Asia to find Zach & Tim coming off of EE so we all rode together for Alex’s third time & Zach’s second. Are you starting to get a sense of why I chose the name for this TR?

It was time for lunch and I thought Tim might enjoy a little Yak & Yeti so we stopped there for Tim to grab some food to go. I took the boys, in the stroller, and got a head start toward Flame Tree. Let me tell you… that stroller was so hard to push up the little inclines with both of them in it! I struggled to make it over the bridge and stopped at the little snack stand to get an orange soda for Zach. He loves orange soda but they don’t have it at Flame Tree. Tim caught up with us just in the nick of time! I couldn’t imagine trying to push that heavy stroller and the orange soda – without the lid! And there was no way I was going to push the stroller with one of the kids holding the soda! Tim handed me his food & took the stroller only to discover I had been pushing the stroller with the brake on that whole time!!!! :rotfl:

Brake off, we made it to Flame Tree. I got in line to order while Tim took the kids to find some seats. We ordered the same thing as the first day, Zach got the drumstick meal and Alex & I got the chicken – except this time we each got our own meal.

After lunch we backtracked to Kali River Rapids to get wet! Luckily I didn’t get as wet this time around! As usual the boys didn’t get wet enough so they had to play in the fountain:

We decided to head out of the park to enjoy some time at the resort before our dinner ADR at Epcot. When we got back to the resort I asked to drive around a bit so we could see more of the resort. We stopped at the little marketplace, which was great! I’ll definitely remember it for next time. While we were driving around exploring I got a text from MRYPPNS (Heidi) saying they were hanging out at the resort and wondering what we were up to! Perfect timing! I told her we’d be hitting the pool so they planned to meet us there. Tim had to answer a couple work emails so he planned to meet us at the pool. It was fun to hang out with Heidi & her family and just check in with them to see how their vacation was going. Sorry no pictures – I didn’t have much of a chance since Tim didn’t show up for about 45 minutes! Ugghhh… Luckily he showed up when he did because Zach wanted to go check out the arts & crafts that were being offered by the pool. I took him over and he did both of the projects – sand art & candy art! The sand art was the usual layered colored sand in a bottle. Candy art was pouring different colored sugars into a big tube. Yum.

Finally it was time to say good-bye to Heidi & her gang to head back to the condo to get ready for dinner.

Up next: Dinner & a night at Epcot

I'm not surprised your boys wanted to go to AK! ;) What a great mom for riding those rides over and over!!

Pushing the stroller with the brake on sounds like something I would do! At least it got easier to push!

The stinky butt photo is HILARIOUS!!!! :) I had to giggle about the brake being on while trying to push the stroller. Poor Amy! I would totally have done the same thing!

What a really fun day at AK. I can't believe how many times you rode Dinosaur and EE.

So fun that you and Heidi got to meet up with each other and your families.

Goodness! You are such a trooper when it comes to riding rides multiple times! Dinosaur is fun, but I don't know if I would think it was nearly as much fun after four times in one day.

The pictures of Zach at Rafiki's are adorable! Tim did a good job with the camera! Do you remember which kind of animal they saw getting a procedure done? I couldn't quite tell what it was from the pictures except it was furry. :lmao:

No wonder you had a hard time pushing that stroller with the brake on!

How fun to meet up with Heidi and her family at the pool! We had a great time hanging out with her in October 2009, so I know you did, too! :thumbsup2

The joys of water! Simple, cheap fun for kids. ::yes::

We go to Rafiki's on a regular basis. It's so interesting to watch the procedures they do on the animals. Brooklynn says that's where she's going to work when she grows up. She loves going to Rafiki's Planet Watch/Conservation Station.

The boys look like they are having so much fun. :goodvibes

:flower3: Apologies, Amy... I've been super-busy and have not been DISing at all lately. I want to read all about your trip; starting NOW!!!

Nice impromptu AK day. You are a much better Mom than I, there is no way I could have done Dinosaur and EE that many times in one day. Actually, once is all I can handle with EE. ;)

LOL on the stroller brake, hopefully Tim didn't tease you too much about it.

How fun to meet another DISer in line!

Can't wait to hear about your Epcot dinner.

This was definitely the biggest "groundhog day"!

The stroller... :sad2:

I'm so surprised I didn't hear about the rhino butt that day - it was a surprise when I saw the picture! That's the kind of thing Zach usually wants to talk about... over & over!

The stroller got easier to push but then it was making a strange noise for the rest of the day! :rolleyes1

What a really fun day at AK. I can't believe how many times you rode Dinosaur and EE.

So fun that you and Heidi got to meet up with each other and your families.

I was a bit Dinosaur & EEd out! Luckily rides don't make me sick!

Meeting with Heidi & family was fun!

I was proud of Tim for taking pictures! I didn't expect any.

I don't know what that animal was... Zach doesn't remember either. I'll have to ask Tim.

Water... kids are mesmerized by it! Even if it's freezing cold outside! Then they wonder why they are cold later. :confused3

Conservation Station... I knew there was another name... I just couldn't think of it! :thumbsup2

Hi Kathy!!

No worries... read when you can. :goodvibes

I was really going with the flow this morning! I pretty much just followed Alex between Dinosuar & EE!

Epcot is coming right up! :thumbsup2

We left Vistana at 3:40 & headed toward Epcot… but we decided to cheat… we parked at the Beach Club and went to Epcot via the International Gateway. :scared1: I know, I know… we’re not supposed to do that but I was trying to work my magic and needed to lay some groundwork for our fall trip. And technically we didn’t lie when we told the attendant we were going to dinner… we just didn’t tell him where we were going to dinner! And if all goes as planned today, we’ll be switching our November reservation from BWV to BCV!! So BCV will make out in the end – they won’t directly be getting our money since we’re renting points, but I’m sure we’ll drop a few dollars at their gift shops, restaurants and of course, the pool! (Keep your fingers crossed for some good news after 9:00 this morning!)

My memory is fading a bit and I didn’t take the best notes this day but I think Tim & I each got a filet & the boys both got pasta with chicken strips… of course Alex didn’t eat the pasta. The food was very good. Zach dropped three forks on the floor during his meal! About half way through we had a visitor – Remy!

I took the boys and headed toward the UK to get the passports stamped. Tim headed the other way to get Zach his favorite dessert – Kaki Gori! (Alex had had ice cream at Les Chefs.)

Tim met up with us after we had run into these guys:

After Pooh they sent us out the far door so we had to go back around into the building to get the passports stamped. Alex really enjoyed the UK since everyone sounded like Mrs. P, his aide at school. She was a certified teacher in the UK but has just gotten back into teaching this year now that her kids are older. Her youngest is actually in Zach’s class. Alex also thought it was cool that they write the date backwards. Today was 3/3/11 so the date didn’t look any different, but she showed us how she would write Alex’s birthday at 28/11/00 rather than 11/28/00 as we do in the US. Pretty cool!
After getting the passports stamped & learning some cultural differences, we moved on to Canada and collected some stamps to finish off the passports.

Up next: The rest of our Epcot evening & a couple firsts!

Isn't parking at Beach Club and walking into Epcot that way just the best??? We did it twice on the last trip, and I fell in love with it! Of course, Connor did not like that I "fibbed." :rotfl:

Wishing you good luck on switching over to Beach Club this morning!

I'm at work so I cannot see your pics but will check them out at lunch.

Good luck with Beach Club!! I sooooooo LOVE it there.:cloud9:

I will so miss our walks through IG this year.
