Ground Hog day..

How dare you question the almighty great and powerful Punxsutawney Phil!:furious: :furious: :furious:

;)

:rotfl:

If my knucklehead kid ever checks in with me, I'll find out all of the details!
This is a huge deal in the town - they have an all day festival with bands, etc.

I would love to go during the festival. It sounds pretty neat but I love small town festivals.

Beauregard is a good ole southern name, espcially for a Gerogia groundhog:upsidedow

Has it ever occurred to anyone that six more weeks of winter is an early spring?

In six weeks it will be March 14th. Here, in PA, we'll be mighty happy for a spring day in mid-March. Typically we have to wait til April to see any springtime.

It's like whoever wrote that dopey rule didn't live in PA (which doesn't make sense) or was just messing with us. :rotfl:

Same with MI. I would be thrilled to have a promise that spring will be here in 6 weeks (not 8, 12 or as it seems like right now never.)

Of course I think we are closer to the Canada ground hog so I will go with his predication. :thumbsup2

General Beauregard Lee the groundhog of Georgia (just east of Atlanta) is named for two fine Southern gentlemen:

The venerable General Robert E. Lee - of course, and

General Pierre Gustav Toutant Beauregard, the Creole commander of the Confederate batteries that first fired upon Ft. Sumter, commanded the Confederate forces at the Battle of First Manassas (Bull Run to ya'll Yanks), later commander of the entire Confederate Southeastern command (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama), and perhaps one of the best examples of the Southern code of chivalric honor.

Two finer names would be hard to find.

And he also has a better track record of accurate predictions than that Yankee rat in Punks-a-toe-nail or whatever it is called... :rolleyes1 ;)

it actually isn't that "small" I think they said over 6k people were there, they use to show it on our local tv station like 5 hours of it.. it looks liks sooo much fun! I wish it were a little closer I'd love to go!

track record for where? Pa of Fl?? :confused3 Speaking of spring in Fl.what's April like, everywhere I look it says high's of about 60 is that right?? that's the same weather we get in April (sometimes) I was hoping to leave the "spring" and see some early summer while in Fl this year.

Either way as I have said in many posts. Spring can't get here fast enough for me!! The only thing keeping me going is knowing I'll be at DW in the near future. Please, February go by quickly!!! :) March 21st- I'm outta here!:woohoo:

I always go with General Lee, especially since he's so close. Early Spring is fine by me.

Staten Island Chuck didn't see his shadow and he's been right for the past few years! Woohoo!! :lmao: Most groundhogs besides Phil didn't see their shadows so maybe it's time for ol' Phil to retire... :rotfl:

Bring on the summer, let's just skip spring!
