We were thinking about requesting a ground floor room, but now I have been reading that some people are complaining of the noise level on the ground floor. Is this really a problem or just in certain areas or the resort?

I don't think you'd have all that much trouble with noise on the ground floor of POFQ. We always stay in bldgs. 4 or 5 and they are really quiet. (Personally though, I think POFQ is worth the extra $$ for a water view which you can request an upper floor for.) It's probably all up to what is going on at the resort during your stay. If there is a builder convention going on, like there was when we were there in January, it will be pretty quiet. If it's the cheerleader championships going on, it could be a little noisier.

We had a ground floor room opposite the pool. I don't remember noise ever being a problem. We really didn't hear much noise at all from the pool.

I've had both a ground floor room and a 3rd floor room at FQ and definetly prefer the ground floor one;) We have 2 small kids and a double stroller and the ground floor was much easier than having to go to the elevator. Never had a problem with the noise:)

We also had a ground floor room, and loved the comvenience of it. There was no noise at all. We were facing the parking lot, so it was an easy walk to the bus stop too! When I stay there again, it will be in a ground floor room. :teeth:

Welcome to the DIS, Lilred!

I was in a first floor room at the POFQ when I stayed there last May, and heard no noise from outside the room.

Last trip we also had a ground floor room - ours was in building 1 facing the parking lot. The ground floor was convenient for hauling luggage and for getting the stroller around. In building 1, I wish we had gotten a courtyard view rather than parking lot. Each night at 10:00pm there was considerable noise out in the parking lot for about 5 minutes - they used that parking lot to load dirty laundry and unload clean for the next day. It was quite noisy for a few minutes.

We were on the ground floor in December and no noise problems. We were in building 3. It was very peaceful.

We stayed there a couple of days last May and loved the ground floor. We were not bothered by any noise. We loved the location and being able to walk out the door and be at the bus stop or food court. I don't think you would have any problems with the ground floor.

we also have a stroller and always request a ground floor room - I much prefer the convenience of the ground floor than dealing with the elevator (although at least they have an elevator because many of the moderates don't)

We are in Building 2 on the corner near to the food court, I think room 2101? Some people did walk past on their way to the food court or bus stop, but it really wasn't an issue, there is the path right in front of the windows, but there are also 'roads' between the buildings and most people were walking along the roads, very few people walked right next to the building.
I didn't notice any noise at all - we thought it was a brilliant location

We had a ground floor facing the courtyard in building 5 and we loved it! :flower: We were steps to everything and noise was never an issue. Hope this helps and welcome to the DIS :wave2:

We had a ground level room in bldg 5 - at the end of the bldg, overlooking the path and the water... it was SO quiet, and this was during Christmas time!
