Since df/dh is deployed I'm on my own. Since we're less than 3 months out thought it might be about time to figure out what we want the groomsmen to wear.

The bridesmaid dresses are chocolate.

I am a big believer in brown and black do NOT go together.

So I'm at a little bit of a loss of what to do about groomsmen attire. Should I have their tux's be the same brown? Or should I go ahead and let them do a black tux with a brown vest? Should they wear a lighter/khaki brown color and have the chocolate as the vest color?

I'm so confused and I know I really need to let the guys know soon.

Are you buying or hiring?

Are any of the groom's party planning on wearing their uniform? I know this can be quite customary for servicemen.

It's definitely a bit of a quandry because I see your point about brown and black. Personally, I would go to somewhere like David's Bridal and see if they can put some ideas together for you.

They'll rent. None of the groomsmen service men (that would just make life too easy huh).

David's bridal doesn't have the tux's so I'd have to track down a men's warehouse (which I believe the closest one is a good 30 minutes away) and try to figure it out. I kinda wish I could send the color swatch of the bridesmaid dresses to my MIL and give her the addresses to the groomsmen and ask her to handle it, after all my BIL is the best man

What about grey...or white. Not sure how grey looks with brown. But hybby does not like the black tux so we had grey and they looked really nice. Also you can go online for mens warehouse and look at your options...

And why not ask for MILs help. I am sure she would be willing to help especially since DF is not around.

I know mens warehouse has at least 1 tux in chocolate, i saw it 2 weeks ago while i was waiting for my fiance to get fitted for his tux for his best friend's wedding. They had a good deal of variety, and men's warehouse is super easy because the groomsmen can get fitted at any store and then the tuxes can be picked up at one site (and they also have a special deal with Disney, which my fiance was super excited about, so if you do go there, ask them what they provide for Disney Fairy Tale weddings!)

I went online and they have a chocolate tux. so I was thinking maybe that with a white shirt and vest and then I can go find a tie I like (since it's hard to find the accent color I have [it's a burnt orange]). While browsing their site I saw they have something geared specifically to Disney weddings so I filled out the form and just waiting for them to contact me.

As for my MIL, well, I don't really talk to my in-laws. They don't like the fact that we got courthouse married before he deployed. My MIL and SILs word to my husband were "You're going to regret it. It'll be the biggest mistake of your life". So to say the least we've been on rocky terms since then.

In my opinion I think that is just way too much brown. The way I am pictureing it I just don't think it will look that great. I say do the black tux but forget the brown vest becuase that may clash. Or do a tan suit. That would go really nice with Brown dresses. I have seen lots of pictures with Brown and Black but so far i havn't found any that have Brown and Brown so it must not be done for a reason.

I say khaki colored suits. Or depending on the formality of the event, khakis with white button up shirts.

maybe I can have them wear the chocolate colored pants, a white sports jacket, and white shirt and i still do the accent tie. ?

my bridesmaids dresses will be brown and the groomsmen will wear brown tuxs. our colors are orange and brown so the guys will have orange vests and ties and the girls may have an orange sash somehow. We are not worried about having too much brown because there will be enough orange in everything else (decor, vests/ties, flowers, etc) to make up for it. Plus, the groom will have a white tux. Stay away from the black tuxs! I'd say, if you have another color that will be the vests/decor, you should be fine with the brown dresses and suits. American Commodore Tuxedo has brown suits for rent.

I would do either brown suits (not tuxes) or some kind of black/ivory tux combo. What's groom wearing? And what kind of flowers? Maybe black tuxes with a subtle color vest tgat compliments the BMs flowers?

Groom is wearing his ARMY dress greens (doesn't match at all but he wants to get married in his uniform so I'm ok with that).

.
The girls are carrying 3 orange calla lilies and they'll have orange flowers in the boutinier(sp?).

Our wedding colors are brown and turquoise. I think we decided to go with black tuxes with turquoise vests. I don't really care about the whole black/brown not going together thing because they won't be worn together. And, the brown we've chosen I think goes well with black.

My FSIL had the boys wear black tuxes with chocolate brown vests and ties, it looked really sharp! They did come from Men's Warehouse too :)

Here is DF and his mom for a close up of the black and brown together

and the boys standing in a line, really it looked like it was just dark until you got close.

Good luck! :goodvibes

I like the black brown pic above-sharp! I would insider a vest in a green that matches df's suit too. That would go with brown and the flowers.

I'm with you on the black/brown clashing - I really don't like those two colors together. Just personal preference! And if you're the same way you should consider other options. I think brown tuxes would be fine, but I like the idea of maybe finding a khaki or tan suit. If you don't mind them not having tuxes something like this might be nice:

They look a little pricey at first but they do have buy one get one free so then it's not as bad :)

except none of my groomsmen would be buying together. best man is my BIL. then we have a groomsman who lives on the other side of town, and one who lives in NH.
