Grooms gift

Hi everyone,

I'm totally unsure of what I should do about my gift to my fiance. I was originally going to get him a watch and have it engraved. His favorite watch broke about a year ago, so I thought this would be the perfect gift.

After going through these boards, I've seen that Disney has sometimes given the couple a gift. Someone posted a picture of the gift, and it was two gorgeous watches.

Now, my problem is, do I get my fiance a watch and then if so, what do I do if Disney gives us the same gift? I know they don't give the watches out to every couple, so does anyone know the reasons for getting them as opposed to not getting them? Is there some financial limit you have to reach before they give the watches to you?

I know whether we get them from Disney or not, my DF will still appreciate the gift I give him, I just want to give him something special, and I feel that if I give him the watch, and then 10 minutes later we get the watches from Disney, it's going to overshadow my gift! :rotfl:

I don't know, I guess I'm just looking for some advice, maybe some other ideas of what to get him, and why Disney gives some couples the gift and not others.

Thank you! :goodvibes

We just got back from our Escape wedding and we received the watches. I haven't posted any pics yet and was contemplating whether or not we are supposed to talk about the watches, lol. ;) They are nice, Cinderella's castle on the face and a gold/silver metal band. I am not sure my DH will wear his outside of WDW but, once I get mine sized down, I will wear it a lot.

I got my DH an iPad as his gift, he had wanted one since they came out and is a total techie so it was appropriate. He has used it every day since he got it (about 2 weeks before the wedding) so I think it was a good choice! :goodvibes

Wow, I didnt know Disney gave out watches to couples :cool1: ~ well I actually got DF an Armani watch with out date engraved. Eh. I cant see him sporting a Disney watch so Im still happy with my gift :goodvibes

They do the watches for Escape couples too??!! How cool! I thought it was only Wishes couples that got the gift from Disney!

I am getting DH a robotics set he has been wanting forever, but never buys because he feels bad about spending so much on himself, no matter how I tell him to go on ahead.

I will probably need to get it in a sneaky way since we share accounts, probably will enroll family's help so I can hide it until the morning of. He is difficult to shop for, so it has taken me ages to come up with something that is both personal and unique that he has been wanting really bad and that he would definitely love.

Awww... You're so cute with the being sneaky thing! I love it! :yay:

It is a tradition in many cultures for brides grooms to give a gift before or after the ceremony. If you discuss what are appropriate gifts for the groom, consider the following. Each of these gifts is bound to please the bride and will remain as a souvenir of your wedding long after the event.

In many Tradition cultures are belive to give gifts for Brides to give grooms a gift before or after the ceremoney .if we are debating that which gift is appropriate for groom i thinkg so for Groom Gold money Clip, Laptop or may Gold Cufflinks with Diamond accent those are wonderfull gift .

I posted a few ideas on this thread...the alcoholic ideas were only because of what she already had to give her groom, but there are other ideas that are Disney related.

I personally love the watch idea as you can engrave something on the back. If Disney does happen to give you watches...they will be Disney watches which your groom may wear from time to time but would probably prefer a more neutral watch for every day or business events.
