We plan to take a taxi from Universal to BCV, what grocery store(s) are on the way? Which do you recommend?

Also do stores there include bags (here we need to bring our own or pay for them)?

There is a SuperWalmart on Turkey Lake Rd.

Whole Foods is on the corner of Sand Lake and Turkey Lake Rd

There are several PUBLIXs in the area

None of these stores charge for bags unless you want to buy reusable ones. The plastic or paper bags are free.

Lots of Publix, we like them in Florida.. Their deli serves Boars Head products and. The ones we've stopped at had a liquor store next door... Prices are reasonable and they are grocery stores so quick in and out...

Keep in mind that the meter will still be running while you're shopping - that could get pretty expensive. Have you considered getting groceries delivered?

Yeah, the price doesn't sound too bad for wait time. Will be ready with list to get in and out as fast as possible! For delivery that gets pretty pricey too since they seem to overcharge for items and/or delivery so this seemed to be a good way and then we could pick what we want ourselves.

Local here-I avoid Walmart on Turkey Lake like the plague. There is a quiet Publix on Universal. And another on Central Florida parkway. There is also a Winn Dixie on 535.

Only because I am curious, why do you avoid that Wal-mart? Its the only one my DH and I know of and its not far from the Marriott Grande Vista so we go there every visit...

It's about 50 cents a minute ($0.60 per 80 seconds). So if you're going to take more than about 4 minutes, you're better off financially paying the cab and letting it go when you arrive, and calling a new one when you're ready to leave. There are so many cabs around WDW that it shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes for a new cab to arrive. That way you can take as long as you like to pick out food and pay.

And as for grocery stores, I like Publix by a country mile.

But that won't work if they have luggage with them.

I agree with you. The prices are high, the service lousy and it is a zoo.
I love Publix, best customer service around.

Rude employees, moldy food, out of date items and bugs.

If they have more luggage than they can personally roll around, I suppose. Something tells me grocery stores around WDW are used to vacationers rolling their luggage around the store, or sticking it in (or under) a shopping cart while they shop. :)

Alternatively, have one person wait at the front of the store with the luggage while the other shops.

I look at this another way. You pay a bunch of $$ for the vacation, so to me vacation time=$$. Not having to spend my valuable vacation time in a grocery store is worth way more than the couple of extra bucks it may cost to order from home and use a delivery service. JMHO.
