grocery store ?

Does anyone know if the large chain stores like Publix, Winne-Dixie and Walmart are open on Thanksgiving day?

We are thinking of going down a day early to Stock up the vacation rental so when the rest of the family arrives everything is done.

Not sure about Winn Dixie or Walmart but I do know that Publix is closed on Thanksgiving.

I know our SUPER Walmarts are open on T day as I've used this to my advantage for black Friday.

Typically, many Wal-Marts are closed on Thanksgiving Day -- as with everything, these days, I guess it depends upon the location.

I would imagine both Publix and Winn-Dixie are closed on T-giving.

A quick search of the net shows that Winn-Dixie stores were opened on both Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2007...so there is a chance they would be open on Thanksgiving if they did well last year.

I do know that K-mart is open on Thanksgiving in many places..although most only have limit food choices.

Winn-Dixie has actually been open on Thanksgiving for a couple years now, so I would expect this year will be the same--however, this is with limited hours, they close mid-afternoon (I want to say 3:00 pm).

I seem to recall the Super Wal-Marts here in tourist-town being open all day; I could be wrong, tho.

Publix builds a whole marketing campaign off the fact they are closed Thanksgiving Day.

My DH called the 2 Super Walmarts on RT 27 in Clermont and both are open there normal hours for Thanksgiving

This really helps - because we didn't want tobe in a store BLACK FRIDAY
