We're arriving on a Friday night in December at MCO around 9:45pm, and heading to Sheraton Vistana to check in for a week. :Pinkbounc

We'd like to pick up groceries on the way to the Vistana, so we don't have to deal with it our first day in the parks. Are there grocery stores en route that should be open? Any advice is much appreciated!

Unfortunately most grocery stores in the Orlando area close at or before 10:00pm. Many Super Wal-Mart's are open 24 hours, that might be your best bet.

I agree. There is a new Super Walmart just down the street from Vistana. I haven't been there yet, but I would assume it's open 24 hours.

I also vaquely recall that Vistana has a shopping service where you can order groceries in advance. I've never used it, but that might be an option since you're getting in so late.

This seems to be my day for answering grocery store questions. :)

Goodings on Hwy. 192 and Celebration Ave. (Water Tower Place shopping center at the entrance to Celebration) is open daily until midnight. They were open 24 hours when they first opened this summer, but have cut back to 7 am to midnight.

Gooding has nice prepared food but terrible prices. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

There is a closer one than the one you mention right under the interstate from Vistana. Maybe the prices are less at the one you recommended.

Yes, the Goodings in Celebration has adjusted their prices to meet resident demand. It is more geared to local residents than tourists. The Goodings you are referring to at the Crossroads shopping center near DTD is very tourist oriented in selection, and has higher prices.

Hmm, sounds like Super Wallmart's our best bet -- either Friday night if we're not too tired, or Saturday early afternoon after our morning park.

I'm guessing that the shopping service is probably mucho expensive, but it sounds tempting for just a couple key items (ie, milk and cereal, so we don't have to go out for breakfast on the first morning). Has anybody used it?

If you just want milk and cereal, you might be able to pick something up for the first morning at a convenience store. I'm not a big fan of convenience store shopping (and prices!), but if you come from MCO on SR 417/Greeneway, you'll pass a 7/11. I have to admit, I have bought milk at a local 7/11 before when I was in a hurry.

There's also a Walgreen's near the Vistana (on 535) that is open 24 hours (according to the walgreen's website). It's also good for some quick pick up items. I always check their ads. Sometimes they have some really good grocery items on sale!

Great -- seems like I have a lot of good options. Thanks everybody!

That Walgreens usually has decent prices on milk. Milk seems very expensive in Orlando, so we try to pick ours up at Sams Club. They often run out of milk, however, particularly on weekends.
