What are the staples on your grocery list? I'm always looking for new healthy food when I diet. I can only have so many fat free puddings. I need some new ideas and thought it would be fun to see what everyone has for snacks and stuff. Any good appetizer ideas that I could make for a party that I can eat? Thanks!

Lynn

I'm on the South Beach Low Carb "diet", so my choices may not be what you're looking for. But here goes:

deli sliced chicken breast
salad shrimp
black olives
low fat mozz sticks
FF/SF puddings
flavored sparkling waters
lots of veggies
salad fixins
Turkey bacon
carb friendly yogurt
ocassionally sweet potato
nuts (I make a "trail mix" with mixed nuts, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds)
wraps (always looking to find lowest carb, highest fiber -meaning whole wheat)
whole wheat pasta
pita pockets
hummus (yummy mixed with chopped olives)
FF/SF fudgescicles
ocassionally fruit
seafood
chicken stock (to make our version of chicken w/ rice soup)
brown rice
lean meats
low fat cheeses

That's probablt it for my staples. I'm pretty gung-ho on the "diet" now so I might start incorporating more in later. I don't want to fix what isn't broke.
As for an appetizer for parties what about veggies, fruit, turkey meatballs, pickles, olive tray, low fat cheese w/ whole wheat crackersand my favorite pita chips (made by splitting pita in 2 rounds, toasting, then breaking into chip sizes and serving w/ hummus) This is my treat once or twice a week!!!
Good luck hunting for "new" treasures in the grocery.

I have a pretty boring list

WW english muffins
low fat lunch meat
bbq baked lays
smart pop popcorn
baby carrots
grapes
apples
bread
ww yogurt
potatoes
100 calorie chips ahoy and oreos

The from schwans I keep on hand
chicken breasts
cocktail shrimp
frozen broccoli
frozen corn
frozen peas
french baggette bread

an appetizer idea...in the last ww magazine (if you do that) was 3 celery stalks, filled with 3 tablespoons fat free cream cheese and topped with 2 tablespoons craisins. 2 points. I haven't tried it yet because I keep forgetting to buy the stuff but thought it sounded yummy.

Some of the things I keep on hand are fat free potato chips, Laughing Cow lite cheese, string cheese, ice pops, veggies, mandarin oranges and pretzels.

Here's what NOT to have on your grocery list like I saw in a cart today. A big giant bucket of ice cream called Whale of a Pail! My eyes must've bugged out of my head because the girl kind of sheepishly looked in her cart. This girl had a "whale of a tail" so I see the correlation!! Sorry I couldn't resist.

Things to have on hand for a 3 o'clock snack that are not too boring,
green olives,
black olives
almonds
Granny Smith Apples w/ Peanut butter
Cottage Cheese
Any type of fruit
Just be sparing w/ some of the above because they are high in calories, but they are the good fat that fills you up. I too follow South Beach. I'm never hungry.
