Please help! I'm so overwhelmed by this upcoming trip (read: excited) that I can't think of what to buy for in-room breakfasts and snacks (we will have a grocery stop)! I'm thinking the usual stuff that I take when the kids and I go camping; cereal, pb&j, chips, crackers, etc. But what about the unusal stuff, the things that make in-room meals and snacks just a little different? My kids are 13 and 3, any help appreciated!

Can only offer what we did....

We took some of the following with us....and purchased the rest during our grocery stop at Publix....

We had a stryrofaom cooler for our room...(purchased at Publix for $3.99) and filled it with ice each day....had no problems whatsoever.

We had Pop-tarts, bagels, fresh fruit, cheese, chips/pretzels, dip, fresh veggies, etc....

Each morning we would take a Pop-tart, bagel (or two) to the food court....used their toaster and availed ourselves of butter, jelly, cream cheese, etc.....and filled our resort mugs with whatever....(note...probably the only suitable beverages for the mugs would be hot chocolate or hot tea....I had coffee....the mug refills do not include juice or milk)...

We ate our "essentially free" breakfast in the food courts....at nite...there were fresh fruits/veggies with dip, snacks, etc....

I also brought along a "hot-pot" from home along with some Ramen noodle mix...(kids love these)....and (after a couple of cool evenings at the parks....this was a welcome dinner/bedtime snack)....

You can also take munchies into the parks with you for in between meal snacking if necessary....not a word was ever said during our daily security screenings.....

Do purchase bottled water or cans of pop, etc...whatever your beverage of choice during your grocery stop....you will save $$$$...WDW serves Coke products only...and we are generally a Pepsi family.....NO GLASS BOTTLES please!!!

There's much more I'm probably leaving out....but you can definitely same money by bringing some of your own food items with you....

We found the Publix store to be very reasonably priced...........

Enjoy your trip:bounce: :bounce:

Thanks Jinny! Lots of ideas that I can use in your post!

Anyone else? Share those grocery lists please!!!

We have at least a microwave in our room, and my 12 and 14-year-olds love Ragu Express and Easy Mac, and microwave popcorn at night(while we watch the disney channel). Lots of people reported no problem using the microwave in the resort food court. We usually do sandwiches one night, with soup(especially good right after the kids get out of the pool in the evenings), and we always pick up a big salad with 12 breadsticks at Olive Garden($13)and order pizza($10-15)...my kids love doing this. For breakfast, my kids love Krispy Kreme doughnuts, pop-tarts, bagels, and the new disney cereals(Magix is our favorite...it tastes like Lucky Charms). Anything we don't have regularly at home is a hit on vacation. The drinks and waters in the room save us a bundle. Don't forget to pick up a few of those ziploc throw-away plastic bowls...we use them for the microwave pasta, and my oldest has even taken her Ragu Express to the pool in one! I can't count the times my kids have thanked me for bringing food for the room. Since we always make lunch our big meal out everyday, we don't usually have a big dinner. Most days I have a hard enough time pulling them out of the pool long enough to eat in the room...getting them out long enough to wait in line for dinner would be more than my nerves could take! One piece of advice: Make your list of what you need to purchase before you leave home, so you don't spend the entire 30 minutes of your grocery stop wandering aimlessly around the store. Also, I suggest you stop at the New Winn Dixie right outside of Downtown Disney...prices are very reasonable(we have one at home that I shop at, and the prices are very similar).

Do all of the grocery stores accept mfr coupons??? I plan on taking some for the things we will be buying just in case. I'm spoiled, all of our grocery stores ad match each other and do double coupons $.55 to $1.00 (up to $2.00 off) and Triple coupons $.10 to $.50 (up to $1.50 off).
